Love Shack, Baby! Giuliani's "Convenient Love Nest" in WTC 7
Building the Office of Emergency Management underneath the shadow of the Twin Towers would be like the ancient Romans building one on the crest of Mount Vesuvius. Yet this is what Rudy Giuliani made happen when he insisted that the OEM be built within walking distance of City Hall. An alternate location in Brooklyn (accessible by helicopter) was continually ruled out by this absolute requirement of Giuliani's.

And now we know why he was so insistent, thanks to a recent Village Voice article about Rudy's five big lies about 9/11. The OEM, you see, had a personal suite for the Mayor, and the Mayor took to using the personal suite often. He would take his then-mistress, now-wife by the hand and together they would walk over to 7 World Trade where a personal elevator would carry them to a Love Shack in the sky.

Like boss, like right-hand-man: Bernard Kerik was busted for many things, but one particularly salacious item was that he was using an apartment close to Ground Zero for his extra-marital dalliances. That apartment was meant to be used by exhausted 9/11 first responders, but while they were busy killing themselves in the toxic air of the Pile, Kerik was shacking up. And now we know where he got the idea.

So remember, folks, whenever you hear people discussing Rudy Giuliani, start humming "Love Shack", and then give your fellow Americans the scoop. The man is disgraceful and is not fit to be our president.

he asked Rudy about his comments about "the buildings coming down" recorded on video made before the WTC buildings collapsed. Rudy had prior knowledge of the buildings collapse.

Reporter Arrested on Orders of Giuliani Press Secretary

"The staff members accused the reporters of Ron Paul partisanship, which press denied. It was at this point that Lepacek, who was streaming a live report, asked a staff member about Giuliani's statement to Peter Jennings that he was told beforehand that the WTC buildings would collapse."

This was all over DU not long ago. Don't slam me about the source. I know nothing about it. But if you google something like "giuliani question reporter thrown out" (without the quotes) you'll get a page full of links.

edit> added: "without the quotes" but most of you know that.

69. The "reporter" was arrested because he tried to re-enter the building with a revoked pass.
Edited on Sun Aug-12-07 04:04 PM by boloboffin
He was escorted out for being disruptive and they tried to take his press pass, which he would not surrender. Then he tried to re-enter the building and the cops arrested him for trespassing.

There's a complete video out there on the web, but I don't think it's linkable here at DU. He asks if he'll be arrested if he tries to re-enter, the cops say yes, and then in he tries to go, and downtown he goes. I'd be more sympathetic to the martyr label if Lapacek didn't consider it an accessory.

ETA: correcting a detail

And all of this is really off-topic.

If you don't mind me saying...there is so much rancor on this board anymore. Unmerited, IMO.

Someone will post a link to something and the braying starts about how it's not PC or it's a "hate site" and on and on. I did a quick & dirty search on Google, and since I've never heard of the "Jones Report" I wasn't sure whether it might be on someone's "unauthorized" list. You never know. Just CMA.

with Judy in front of his children.

The Kerik shackup apartment was exposed some time ago. I'm not at all surprised that Rudy paved the way with one of his own.

Rudy Giuliani is scum, a perfect replacement for the scum impostor occupant.

the head of the NIST when asked,

http://nymag.com/news/features/16464/

As of mid-2007, it has yet to release a final report on the collapse of WTC 7. In early 2006, Dr. S. Shyam Sunder, who is the lead investigator for NIST’s WTC investigation, will admit, “truthfully, I don’t really know” what caused WTC 7 to collapse. He will add, “We’ve had trouble getting a handle on building no. 7” (see March 20, 2006). An earlier report on the WTC collapses, released by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in May 2002, had been inconclusive on what caused WTC 7 to collapse, and stated that “Further research, investigation, and analyses” were necessary (see May 1, 2002).

13. Guiliani is a pig...and that is an insult to pigs..!
The man is as personally responsible for the loss of life on 9/11 as the Bushites. His narrowmindedness and egomaniacal plans made it almost inevitable that lives would be sacrificed if anything like 9/11 ever occurred.

That Village Voice article hits every nail right on the head.

17. Dreadful and disgusting
Giuliani's behavior in using the OEM as a love nest is dreadful and disgusting. I was aware of Kerik's even more odious use of the recovery workers' donated apartment for his affair with the loathsome book publisher Judith Regan (she of OJ's "if I did it project" fame).

Thanks for posting this.

Just one clarification, however. At the time that Giuliani decided to locate the OEM in WTC 7, he was not yet involved with Judith Nathan, so that would not have been part of his motivation for the bad decision. (He may very well have been involved with a different woman, Cristyne Lategano, his communications director, which might explain his need for a love nest earlier. Surprisingly, Giuliani's ex-wife, Donna Hannover blamed Lategano, not Nathan, for destroying her marriage.)

But the Voice article makes observation almost as devastating as the choice being dictated by the need for a love nest -- namely that the OEM's location was dictated by Giuliani's unquenchable thirst for publicity, not by the functionality of the location:

<quote>

Hauer's own memos at the time the OEM was launched in 1996 emphasize "the visibility of the mayor" during emergencies (rather than the police commissioner) as a major objective of the agency. The now- ballyhooed new office was, however, so underfunded from the start that Hauer could only hire staffers whose salaries would be paid for by other agencies like the NYPD.

With that kind of history, it's hardly surprising that the OEM was anything but "invaluable" on 9/11.

18. The authors of the book
Grand Illusion were interviewed by Sam Seder one day on his morning show - actually I don't remember if it was one of them or both of them - but they maintained that where this center was set up was done some kind of as a business deal to "help" a friend - apparently the space when originally built was suppose to be rented out to some business and that fell through and the space sat empty - and so as a "favor" to whomever owned it Rudy picked that spot and helped his friends out while the City paid the rent.

I'm sorry I don't remember the exact details - but I specifically remember them discussing this - I imagine it is detailed in this book Grand Illusion by Wayne Barrett and Don Collins.

19. I vaguely recall this also as a motivation
The WTC complex for many years had difficulty finding enough tenants to be fully occupied. One of the reasons there were so many government agencies in WTC 7 was because it was difficult to find business tenants. Generally, in NYC the placing of government offices in privately owned or managed buildings is a matter of patronage.

20. & here's the HOT wingnut lovenest as worked by KERIK & Judith REGAN
A couple of her men:

*********QUOTE********

http://newyorkmetro.com/nymetro/news/media/columns/medialife/152/

.... Then Judith and Rupert found each other -- and ReganBooks was born. Not only did their commercial instincts mesh, but Judy's what's-the-world-ever-done-for-me politics were highly compatible with the Murdoch view.

And then the sex part. It's a one-woman show.

I have never heard anyone talk about sex the way Judy does. I have never heard anyone talk about their sexual partners the way Judy does. I have never heard anyone analyze individual motivations, the workings of the marketplace, and politics, too, in such precisely sexual terms. The other day, on her show, she kept interrupting her tempered guests on the subject of why women like Bill Clinton, and, voice rising, saying: "They want to have sex with him -- that's why they like him!"

Early in her career at Simon & Schuster, she published a book called The Rogue Warrior and fought tooth and nail for a full-face cover photo of the author. "Don't they understand?" she stormed to me. "Women will buy this because they want to fuck him!" She got the full face and a best-seller.

http://www.zianet.com/insightanalytical/newlow.htm (by DUer Gloria: )

Regan looked straight into the camera and for almost 10 minutes, delivered a pseudo stream-of-consciousness poetry riff mocking Clinton. Referring to his sad boyhood, she mocked his loneliness, then proclaimed that he built himself up and called himself KING, because "I am rich and I can do what I want!" She likened him to the cast out Socks, and envisioned him an old man meeting up with Socks at 125th street, both holding tin cups. ....

It was incredibly vicious. What was especially appalling was how she took the most painful aspects of Bill's background--his truly grievous childhood--and twisted them, using them to mock him. If this wasn't the "politics of personal destruction" I don't know how else you could describe this horrific display. ....

**********UNQUOTE***********

And I (the poster) will claim credit for insight. Back when KERIK's book for REGAN was debutting, she hosted him on her Faux interview show. His tale was of his missing mother, who inexplicably abandoned him as a tot. She never showed up for a custody hearing. The premise of the book was that this tough uber-male had this hole in his heart, thereby setting the pants on fire of tough wingnuts of all genders. As she probed him about the book, she and KERIK locked smouldering,WILD WINGNUT HOT gazes. Once the mother-thing was done, she moved on to his heroics (which were what?) on 9-11. She asked WHERE HE WAS when the planes hit. Without missing a WILD WINGNUT HOT eye-lock, he said, "Stepping out of the shower." She swallowed and held a long breath. The image of nekkid KERIK was plainly etched on the Faux camera lens during the LONG pause. He added, "In my office." Another LONG pause. He added, "After WORKING OUT." There was another swallow. I suspected BACK THEN that something was cooking between publisher and author, and it weren't spaghetti. Only 2 or 3 years later, when KERIK's many other past deeds floated to the surface like dead bodies did it become official that there was indeed WILD WINGNUT HOT LOVE between the two, that the two of them alternated their WILD WINGNUT HOT LOVE sessions with WORKING OUT together, that he had used NYPD to track down what happened to his mother, that he used NYPD to provide security for his personal WILD WINGNUT HOT LOVE sessions, that the WILD WINGNUT HOT LOVENEST was a city-paid apartment near the WTC intended as a rest site for rescue and recovery workers. The REGAN-KERIK Faux interview was pure musk in the air. Why don't Shrub's handlers hire some of US for intelligence gathering & interpretation.

Sounds like Rita Skeeter to me.

I just got done reading the Deadly Hallows. The thing that struck me about the book is the portrayal of the right wing state once Voldemort took over. There was no trumpeting, no triumphal march. Voldemort's people just assumed the roles and ran everything Voldemort's way with little or no mention of the deep evil they represented.

Star Wars and Harry Potter both give us excellent views of the ultimate Daddy State with a BAD daddy.

53. So was Bush.....
the exposure of Bush's more than checkered past should have been enough to disqualify him from serious consideration for the Presidency. But the media, knowing well of his past, dummied up and never made an issue of it. If they had this country might have been spared the horrendous damage wrought by the Bush White House.

It appears that they're going to follow the same tack with Rudy. The corporate media knows what a scum-bag Rudy is but they're remaining mostly silent on his past indiscretions. Gee, I wonder why? :eyes: Looks as if the corporate media wants to foist Rudy upon the nation just as they did the village idiot from Crawford.

It's going to be up to the non-corporate media, bloggers and such, to educate the country about Giuliani's REAL character, or lack thereof.

43. The task is to *nationalize* that VV article. It's devastating, but only if...
... it can Escape From New York, and get into the National Conversation generally.

44. Your links don't work. Two too many "//" after http.
Probably too late to fix with an edit.

46. I think they only work for you, because you originated it.
Something to do with the correct links being in your cache, perhaps?

Thanks for posting this, by the way. I hate Rudy and I am developing a library of these articles, this VV article is now included. I should really get these guys' book.... they deserve at least that much support.

50. Some people are having trouble, some aren't. Go to Post #15.
I've pasted the links there for a backup.

51. Which do you think ultimately will "implode" better...
...WTC7 or Rudy's candidacy?

58. Rudy's so sleazy.
The WTC 7 was just about a four block walk from City Hall. And remember Giuliani had a previous affair as mayor, with his staffer Chritine Lategano. It was widely reported at the time.

61. Supposedly, Republicans have values ...

Republicans were all over Clinton for his indiscretions. They thought it made him unfit to wield the authority of the office of President of the United States.

If these very same people can support Rudy, I will have lost the last respect I have for those people. They will be nothing more then Sheeple in my eyes.

Is it me?

70. Not with the browser I'm using.
Seriously, I see two forward slashes when I hover over the link. When I click it, the link works perfectly. I'm using Firefox, so I don't know if that makes any difference.

Anyway, the links at #15 are cut and pasted into the post. They should work fine. I'm sorry people are having trouble, but everything looks good on this end.
