1. Mitt Romney
2. Mike Huckabee
3. Sam Brownback
4. Tom Tancredo
5. Ron Paul
6. Tommy Thompson
7. Fred Thompson
8. Rudy Guiliani
9. Duncan Hunter
10. John McCain
11. John Cox
...talking points memo

So the Iowa straw poll, (whatever the hell that is) has these three republican candidates coming in on the top three in popularity.

Should we be scared shitless?

Are republicans still so stupid as to be fooled by YET ANOTHER lying religious poser?

But THESE THREE? God is definitely on the republican ticket in 08.

1. Hey, that
John McCain campaign has really caught on fire, hasn't it?

I do not view this as being good for the republican party. But I assume they will come up with something stronger soon.

And to me that just seems like a logical idea, hell, we've tried everything else.

that advocates bombing the world back into the stone age, will appeal to a certain percentage of republicans.

I think the campaign commercial pretty much writes itself.

I've read a bit about sammy b., these repubs with the religious right's cash flow and loyal voting base are endangering us all.

If so, it suggests that set of people is reduced to the nutcases.

14. Remember, these were purchased votes.
This was a Republican-style "election" in which votes were for sale at $35 each. Romney is the richest, so he won.

Still, I agree that having the top three all be religious wackos is weird. (Were these the very three that "don't believe in evolution"?) Like any religious person would, Romney wants to "double the size of Guantanamo". I wonder whether the other two are sufficiently pious to wish for this godly outcome as well.

What a sad group of people Republicans have become. I liked Ike. He is weeping today.

18. Does anyone here (in the choir) seriously doesn't think this was a totally pre-programmed
selection.....NOT an election by the people.
This was all a programmers result per electronic 'voting'.
Intentional technical interference....In 2004 the Ohio state's computers were switched via DNS entries to the RNC computer site in Tennessee...vote totals manipulated...then switched back. Because the application screen continues to look the same...it's totally transparent to people that the actual servers recording votes has been 'switched'.

For the software I support....we had to move 2 of our servers from one building to another for improved 24/7 support by the server support team. We intentionally coordinated this change....so I know it can be done to any servername/ip addresses....by design.
The application on the screens (my software) stayed identical..was a 'transparent' change for our users....with a minor blip to their view.

19. I'm not entirely convinced the GOP want the White House next time around
Look who they have running...the weak and the laughable

Course that could just be my low opinion of those running for the GOP (though I can't take anyone seriously that takes that GOP line-up seriously)

and well, then there's the Shrub factor....he didn't exactly raise the bar for the GOP...no low is too low

20. Please Do Not Call Them "Wierdos"
it sounds intolerant. I agree that Brownback and Huckabee (and Tancredo too) could be labeled extremist. I agree that Mormonism is not exactly a mainstream religion. But, we risk insulting all people of faith when we label them "religious wierdos."

And I don't think Brownback, Huckabee or Tancredo (for that matter) are posers. I think their faith and conservative values are genuine. That's what's so scary.

24. Sorry, weirdos is actually too polite a term for Romney, Huckabee, & Brownback
Those three are awful people, they have perverted religion & what it is really supposed to be about.....They don't give a shit about caring, love, respect; they never talk about education, helping the poor, & working on issues that could really make a difference...All they ever do is try to shove religion down everyone's throats, & attempt to make this a christian nation.....They pick & choose from the Bible to suit their wims, the Bible calls for redistribution of wealth every 7 years, well, of course they skip over that part (LOL).....

Those 3 (especially Brownback) have this holier than thou attitude who think that because they attend church services, quote scripture, & put $2 in the poor box, that they are somehow so much better than everyone else...

That disengenious, smug, SOB Romney at a commencement while back actually tried to blame the Va Tech shootings on porn & rap music...That's social conservatism for you; everything is the fault of Hollywood, the adult-film industry, & rap music.....It's funny how they blame the First Amendment for real life violence, but they don't have any problems with that Second Amendment...

The religious right are nothing but the self righteous, led by the self-interested, for the benefit of the self-serving...
