The Word according to Dubya: 50 religious insights from George Bush
The Word according to Dubya: 50 religious insights from George Bush

1. I am driven with a mission from God. God would tell me, 'George go and fight these terrorists in Afghanistan'. And I did. And then God would tell me 'George, go and end the tyranny in Iraq'. And I did. Sharm el-Sheikh August 2003

2. I trust God speaks through me. Without that, I couldn't do my job.
Statement made during campaign visit to Amish community, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, Jul. 9, 2004

3. I'm also mindful that man should never try to put words in God's mouth. I mean, we should never ascribe natural disasters or anything else to God. We are in no way, shape, or form should a human being, play God. Washington, D.C., Jan. 14, 2005

4. God loves you, and I love you. And you can count on both of us as a powerful message that people who wonder about their future can hear. Los Angeles, California, Mar. 3, 2004

5. I tell people all the time, you're equally American if you're a Christian, Jew, or Muslim. You're equally American if you believe in an Almighty or don't believe in an Almighty. That's a sacred freedom.
Washington, D.C., Mar. 10, 2006

6. Well, first of all, you got to understand some of my view on freedom, it's not American's gift to the world. See, freedom is God -- is God given. Interview with TVR, Romania, Nov. 23, 2002

1. #5 "a sacred freedom"
Is he actually saying that the right to believe in any religion or none is God-given?

4. Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you !!!
And thank to Libby Purves and Joanna Sugden for finding the quotes and writing the article.

It is classic. I am going to properly format it and give copies to my Mom's "Old Broads' Club", a network of about 50 ex-conservative and ex-GOP suburban moms and grannies who got mad, got organized, and who do not allow their family members to skip out on voting.

The man has a God-complex and this is very frightening. I knew it was bad, but to see this collection of excerpts of his sermons here together just drives home the point that we are f#cked. Damn, we didn't even get a cigarette afterwards.

11. kind of tells you everything you need to know about him, doesn't it
Maybe he's just upset because he was spurned during a trip to China during his "young and irresponsible" years? (By the way, as an Asian woman, I have learned that guys who go on about this kind of thing tend to be rather creepy -- best strategy is to throw a heavy object at them, and take the first available escape route out of there.)

"Bush made a month-long excursion to China while his father was
stationed there, which the New York Times summed up as 'trying to date
Chinese women (unsuccessfully) during a visit to Beijing in 1975.'"

9. Don't put words into God's mouth? You failed there, Georgie.

Seeing as how your excuse for your crusade is that God wants you to do it. And if there is a God, and it really wants you to go slaughter the Muslims and take their oil...than God's a really big schmuck.

UPON EDIT: After reading some more of these, I cannot possibly articulate just how enraged I am with this dumbass. His assertions of how much faith America has in God, and how we can restore broken and shattered lives through prayer aren't just idiotic. They're arrogant, obnoxious and vile.

This man is an abomination of God. (That is, if God existed.)

I don't think you order suiciders to kill innocent men, women, and children if you're a religious person. Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin, Jul. 14, 2004

But religious people order soldiers to do it? What's the difference?
