A shooting in the Old City of Jerusalem
This story is almost 'the usual' nowadays--a guy swipes a gun from a security guard. There's a shootout, ten wounded, and the guy who swiped the gun ends up dead.

But what is UNUSUAL is the CCTV coverage of the event--the clarity of the shots, it's like Francis Ford Coppola shot it. This is the future--you're on the street, you're on TV.

I did not post this in the old I/P forum, because it's not the shooting that is the unusual bit, here--it's the SURVEILLANCE. Specifically, the QUALITY of it. Ya gotta ask yourself, why is it that we can get vacation quality video in the Old City, but you can't make out the bum robbing the convenience store or the bank here at home?

The story, with that astounding video link, here: http://www.jpost.com/servlet/Satellite?cid=1186557429677&pagename=JPost%2FJPArticle%2FShowFull

The video footage captures the 29 year-old assailant, Ahmed Mahmoud Khatib of Kfar Manda in the western Galilee, following the two security guards, Alex Nepelvich, and his partner, Mikhail Popov as they strolled through the narrow cobblestone streets of the Old City on a routine patrol.

Then, as the guards start to enter an Old City kiosk, Khatib snatches Popov's gun and starts running away, the police video shows.

The guards give chase in the narrow street, filled with visitors, and Khatib tries to shoot Popov but, at first, he fails since the pistol was locked.

The video shows the two men scuffling, and Khatib shooting him, before fleeing.
