I'm not a fan of Hillary at all, but I have to say, I think that's an effective ad.

5. I'm not a fan of HRC at all - but it IS a good ad, and will win her some converts I think |
|
Not me, but I can see that some folks might warm to her because of its message.

13. The thing is, the ad was certainly the product of advertising/PR professionals |
|
and, like most such ads, really has nothing to do with the candidate. It's all marketing. While I felt the ad was effective, and I liked it that she's already slamming the Bush administration, it won't change my mind about her -- I won't support her in the primary for a number of reasons.

it appears I can't say anything positive OR negative about anything these days :hi:
:loveya:
However, that's a great ad. Did you see it?
And I'm surprised at the way the WH came out of the gate blasting her for it.
She certainly struck a nerve :)

However, I still say this country is too sexist to vote for a woman for president. ANY woman. This country will not turn egalitarian overnight simply because Senator Clinton is the one running for president.

12. Pfft -- if she loses it won't be because of her gender |
|
This country is too far to the left of Hillary and voters tend not to like candidates who arrive at their core principles through triangulation.

15. This country is not intellectual enough to ponder such ideas! |
|
Most people in this country are highly uneducated, but they are highly sexist. I think this country won't be ready for a woman president for decades. We will all be surely gone by then.

21. and yet India, not exactly known for it's enlightened views |
|
regarding a woman's place in society, elected a female as PM over 40 years ago! Who served for 15 years! Then there's Pakistan - over a decade ago they put a woman in charge. Another country not known for it's liberal stance on women's rights...
It's hard for me to accept the argument that America is to sexist to elect a woman... in light of the fact that several other countries - countries far more misogynistic than the US, have done so.

24. India is different... for example, they have goddesses..... |
|
And they PRAY to these goddesses. There is a belief in India that everyone has male and female within them. It's different.
Again, this country is sexist.

25. like india is the only place in the world with those belief systems |
|
That you need to back up the "hillary can't be elected 'cause she's a woman" argument with such a weak response shows desperation rather than logic.

30. You're right that it's far more than that.... |
|
For example, this country is highly militaristic in its thinking, in its family life, in its social life, in its workplace organization. Militaristic nations are the most sexist nations on this planet.
And yes, again, there are no goddesses worshipped here.
One hell of a lot of things will have to change until this country is will be willing to elect a woman as president.
We can talk after the election and discuss this again. And thank God for the Internet, because if Sen. Clinton is picked to run, and it's shown that we Dems fucked up again by helping a Republican get in the White House one more time, I'm leaving this country.

14. You're right -- it's a good ad. |
|
Senator Clinton's most annoying habit is shouting during her speeches. She starts with that in the first few seconds of the ad, but by the end she has totally taken out the shout. It's calm ... deliberate ... thoughtful.
Nice.

16. Chris Matthews showed the ad. He is one who always complains |
|
that she yells. After watching the as he says "she has a beautiful voice" He is schizo :eyes:
I think it is amazing and extra points for getting the WH all riled up
I hope she does more of that.
She is fully capable of winning it all. Naysayers be damned.

29. Looks like a run of the mill ad to me |
|
where the candidate pretends to be one of the people or can relate or care. It's ok but nothing special. I guess it turns on her supporters though and energizes them.
