My good friend's son is in Iraq and she showed me the pictures he took.
No big military secrets were divulged in the pictures and no blood or gore could be seen
but they have haunted me for 24 hours.

@ 21 he looks through a scope on his 50 caliber "sniper rifle" in XXX City, Iraq.
Outside of endless patrols of 10 to 12 hours looking for "trouble" his skill with
a gun has him doing damage people @ 1/2 mile or more away. His letters
e-mails, and calls are monitored so he can't say much but what I have heard
everybody in his unit do their jobs with skill but they know the mission is FUBAR.

Other pictures were of rubble, downed bridges, and streets and walks with out
Iraqis .... bush has created a hell on earth where human civilization got its first
start.

The picture of Sunset on the XXX River could have been from 2,800 years ago ...

Damn this war and damn the people who started it.

Sorry to rant.

1. I hope your friend's son will be OK, Botany.
 Thanks for posting this - those pictures sound incredibly powerful, as does the story of all those fighting over there. I will keep your friend's son and all of his brothers and sisters in uniform in my thoughts & prayers!

3. Sorry
I can not .... if some no good shit would see them here and track down his unit
and or area of operation he would get in big trouble. They have been told they
are not allowed to take pictures.

9. Well his Lt. & Sargent could be seen in the pix but after ....
.... Abu Gahrib (sp???) pix are now frowned on ..... "They" are afraid
the bad guys will know we are there & "they" don't want Americans
seeing the hell we have created.

10. That's what I was afraid of
I didn't know if they were trying to hide any atrocities or if it was to keep from revealing any secrets.

My father shot home movies during WWII (he was a pilot) and I treasure those. It's too bad that future generations will only know the side that Bush wants them to know.

4. May your friends son, and all the other sons and daughters in Iraq, be safe and find peace
:grouphug:

I include the Iraqi people in that prayer... Indeed I fear hell on earth has been created IN OUR NAMES...

6. Let's get them home soon
so they can resume their lives again. Its tragic to think of how these experiences will affect them the rest of their lives.

12. shit, I am haunted by the Yahoo Iraq photos daily
thank God the US has not killed all of the photogs off and some truth still seeps out....

An Iraqi girl looks through the damaged door of her house following an early coalition forces raid in the predominantly Shiite Baghdad suburb of Sadr City. At least 175 people were slaughtered on Tuesday and more than 200 wounded when four suicide truck bombs targeted people from an ancient religious sect in northern Iraq, officials said.(AFP/Wissam al-Okaili)

I hope your friend's son is doing well.

13. I hope so to ..... (hope your friend's son is doing well. )
.... I have know his mother for years and back in the day dated her sister.

His tour is 18 months w/ one 2 week break ..... they are mortared nightly ....
just so they don't get any sleep ..... his job when not on patrol is to shot
XXXXXX Iraqis as they try to sneak close enough to the base to plant
I.E.D.s and to mortar the Americans. And I hope his aim is true and he kills
them because that way his odds of coming home are better.

******************************************************************

We now know that of the remaining 24 million Iraqis in the country 8 million
face starvation, homelessness, no medical care, little water, and little power ....

I am afraid we are going to produce deaths not seen since WW II ..... all because bush
will not admit a mistake.
