Iraqi officer deserts with Fallujah battle plans

An Iraqi military commander has deserted US forces hours after he received a full briefing on US military plans to storm the rebel-held city of Fallujah, CNN has reported. snip

US officers said Iraqi forces, who include former Kurdish Peshmerga fighters and former members of Saddam's Iraqi army, were among Iraqi troops training with US Marines preparing to storm Fallujah.

200 feared dead as suicide bombers hit Iraqi Kurds

AT LEAST 200 people have been confirmed dead and more than 300 injured in one of the deadliest suicide bomb attacks to hit Iraq.

Four bombers struck communities of the small Kurdish Yazidi sect in north-west of the country yesterday.
