Erin Burnett (CNBC) tells US Consumers to shut up about toxic toys from China!
Edited on Wed Aug-15-07 09:27 AM by npincus
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/08/12/cnbcs-erin-burnett-we-need-chinas-toxic-food-and-lead-coated-toys-to-keep-economy-strong/

Otherwise we might end up paying more for them at Wal-Mart!

No you Corporate-ass kissing Dumb-ass. Overseas manufacturers are responsible to make sure their sub-contractors aren't using toxic ingredients in order to eke out a few extra yuan of profit. How the hell does manufacturing safe products keep prices lower? Is there an acceptable number of child deaths and injury to satisfy the pocketbook of the American consumer?

Why hasn't this gotten more MSM attention? (I know) Outrageous! She ought to be fired for stupidity.

Burnett's quote on MSNBC's "Hardball", August 10, 2007:

A lot of people like to say, uh, scaremonger about China, right? A lot of politicians, and I know you talk about that issue all the time. I think people should be careful what they wish for on China. Ya know, if China were to revalue it’s currency or China is to start making say, toys that don’t have lead in them or food that isn’t poisonous, their costs of production are going to go up and that means prices at Wal-Mart here in the United States are going to go up too. So, I would say China is our greatest friend right now, they’re keeping prices low and they’re keeping the prices for mortgages low, too.”

8. No- that's the amazing thing.
That was the same appearance in which Tweety infamously asked her to "come closer" to the camera, and commented about her attractiveness. Perhaps that's why this remark of hers was overshadowed by the other. That Tweety let this one go by is repulsive.

12. she must not have children..ihate these talking mouths who don't have kids telling parents
what they should and should not be worried about..some of these ding bat women have no business discussing these types of issues..

personally i think it would be the best day ..when or if walmart went out of business!
i don't shop in one..i support local stores..even if is inconveniences me or cost more.

i will not support any store that buys from suppliers that uses child slave labor.

i remember my dad who fought in the South Pacific in WWII..would not allow any items in our home that were made in Japan or china..he would not allow anyone to park a Japanese made car in our driveway..he was adamant about it..he said the downfall of this nation will be buying and trading with these nations..it will kill the American worker..and he said that since i was a baby..and he never wavered about it..

when my son was 1 yrs old..for xmas..my dad bought him a full size bike..and my dad was so upset because he said it was the only bike that was made in the USA..and he would not buy a bike made in china...and he had to jump through hoops to find that bike made in the USA..

my dad would say..we are our own worse enemy..and i used to roll my eyes..

dad was right..we are buying products from a communist country..don't forget that ..a communist country..that uses child labor ..children being used like slaves...

i will not buy from any country that makes products that treat children and their workers different than how we expect our children and workers to be treated.

i always think..do i need this..must i have this to live life..and uless i can say yes..i don't buy it.

yes it is damn hard to buy stuff made in the USA today..but there are products from other cou ntries that do treat their employees right..like Canada!! and France..it just takes looking ..

17. great Op-Ed: "CNBC: Poisoned Goods Worth the Lower Cost"
Edited on Wed Aug-15-07 12:57 PM by npincus
http://www.opednews.com/articles/opedne_sandy_sa_070815_it_s_okay_to_poison_.htm

This woman must be freakin' out of her freakin' mind, and Matthews was so busy flippin' over her and flirting that he didn't pause for an instant to do a Jon Stewart "Waaaaaa?" double take.

I doubt he heard one word of her insane statement, and I wonder if her bosses at CNBC heard it either. If I were them she'd be looking for a new job...in a Chinese slave labor factory.

I'm not even going to try to be polite here and use p.c. words. This woman is an evil thinker, if not an evil person. An eely, heartless corporate mouthpiece whose hatred for U.S. consumers and their children is only equalled by her blind love for heartless, profiteering, cold, impersonal, don't give a crap about anything than the bottom line corporate honchos.

I know nothing about this woman, Erin Burnett, but from that one ill-conceived idea she must be a closet masochist, who pulled the wings off butterflies when she was a kid, roots for the matador at bull fights, and is the most hardhearted of Hannahs who doesn't mind seeing kids poisoned for the sake of the almighty dollar. Perhaps in a former life she was an evil matron in an English orphanage in the time of little Ollie Twist.

Does she have tots at home? I have no idea, but if she does I'd like to Fed-Ex her a box of lead-painted toys filled with B-B magnets that are clearly marked Made in China, and see how quickly she tosses them in the trash where they belong.

Even though she has the colossal nerve to tell us we're foolishly China-shy, odds are if she has children, she's placed a restraining order on all Chinese-made toys, and they can't get within a thousand yards of her kids.

Just spent between the two of my cats probably around $7k or so!

One of them had hyperthyroidism which I treated with radioactive Iodine treatment, and the other just yesterday I had to have surgery to remove a likely cancerous tumor near his intestines. Fortunately it hadn't spread and he can live another day!

37. Nobody is being fair to this woman.
People are calling her 'stupid' and 'dumb-ass', but we don't know if this is true. In her defense, maybe she owns stock in walmart. Maybe she owns stock in mattel. If this is the case then her remarks do not indicate stupidity. They indicate greed and evil, but not stupidity.

Confiscate their money and assets to make sure none of their families ever get enough money again and attempt to buy their way into power again.Psychopathy and power does not mix.Corporations are psychopathic in how they operate,no better ethically than a human psychopaths and both need to be kept AWAY from power.

$1000 for a Samsung TV that will last 5 years, or $580 for a Vizio TV with a lifespan of 1.5 years, the choice is obvious.

I have computers made 20 years ago that still work perfectly. Even my 8 year old Pentium III computer works perfectly. So why do so many <3 year old Dells fall apart or blow up (bulging capacitors)?

Tech support; why pay some lady who claims her name is "Eve" when it's more like "Rani" despite a very good accent, and it's 10PM, after having been on hold for an hour, and all she does is read a sodding cue card like any parrot would? Never mind the people who GET calls after 10PM... meanwhile, the same people who bitch about India say it's too costly to hire somebody locally, and I don't mean those disreputable national chains like "Dork Troop", who are more inclined to steal private pics and other personal info instead of resolving the problem. Can these people not think beyond not even a word, but a symbol: $ ?

44. Psychopaths are incurable
They develop symptoms around age 2. They are I think born that way.
And they can live with themselves because they see nothing wrong with what they do,they have no conscience. Nobody, no therapy, no behavior modification,no punishment has been able to make a psychopath grow a conscience. They have so much hubris and so little empathy that they see themselves as never needing to change, and they think it is we who are their inferiors because we are so manipulatable, easy to control and use.We have emotions and feel love and shame. The psychopath does not.And they exploit us by our emotions and better ideals...The psychopath is not a human being for a psychopath lacks the very thing that makes us humane a conscience. They know what wrong and right is, they do wrong and do not care as long as they don't get caught or lose.Hence the comments for US to shut up about china. They don't wanna be caught with their own incompetence exposed..

51. well,that's the excuse RW's use for everything
deregulate and it will benefit consumers with lower prices...

if we regulate and make companies adhere to them it will cost consumers more...

if we demand safe products it will cost us more....

deregulation means more competition and prices will go down...

requiring and enforcing regulations will result in job loss...

IMHO - it's all bushit - what they really mean is regulation and following safety guidelines will cut into profits.

the other excuse is that the market will weed out bad companies... that would be true if there is enforcement of regulations but either there are no regulations and/or lack of enforement of existing regulations. Toss in the push to curb consumers ability to sue - and your market-weedwhacker is busted.

is someone's health/life worth saving a couple of pennies at the store?

and all those who have seen lower prices due to deregulation please raise your hands...

60. Isn't that like not standing up to the bully because giving them your lunch moeny is easier?
Personally, and I know I only speak for myself, but I wouldn't mind paying a couple extra dollars for food if I knew it wouldn't kill me. But thats just me. I think we should be more self reliant, If we can grow food here we should, it may cost more now but in 20 years America will be better off. Wait a minute my bad I was thinking ahead, that isn't allowed in MMMrrrkkkaaa.

62. I saw her on Hardball, too.
My boyfriend and I just looked at each other - aghast. We had to run it back on Tivo to make sure we really heard what we thought we had. There were a few threads on this the day after her appearance, but I'm glad to see more discussion. This gal needs to go - now! And Chris Matthews lusting after her on air was disgusting. What a sexist pig! I haven't watched the show since (I like David Shuster's coverage).

63. The past week since, Bartiromo has had more appearances
on MSNBC and NBC than Burnett who has been scarce.... it had been the other way 'round. I wonder if NBC execs are reconsidering her as the ascendent on-air finance reporter.
