RE: Half Hour News Hour/Weekend Programming

I'd like to share some news with you about weekend programming.

Joel Surnow and I have mutually decided that we will not continue the Half Hour News Hour beyond its current 15 episode run. The last show will be presented on September 16th.

While HHNH performed admirably in the ratings and Kurt Long and Jennifer Robertson did a wonderful job, we are considering ways to retool the show for future scheduling needs. There is still a chance you will see the program at some point in the future.

I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Joel and his team. He is a visionary in this business and he created a contrarian program that fulfilled an untapped niche in the comedy genre.

2. They couldn't even get the mindless masses who
watch Fixed News religiously to watch this dreadful show. Gotta love the corporate speak referring to Joel Surnow: "He is a visionary in this business and he created a contrarian program that fulfilled an untapped niche in the comedy genre".

I guess the "untapped niche" he fulfilled was creating a comedy show with absolutely no comedy in it that nobody would watch.

I think a half hour of pigs farting would require more creative comedic wit than what was exhibited by the HHNH.

6. Reminds me of the Spinal Tap line
From one of their reviews:
"Spinal Tap fills a much needed void in Rock & Roll"

19. LMAO, "contrarian"? What is contrarian about being a tool for the status quo?

8. Kurt and Jennifer, we hardly knew ye
Something tells me this won't be on Fox's DVD line anytime soon. But if they are stupid enough to compile this dreck, I foresee a time when folks will get together to watch the HHNH's greatest hit and drink themselves far funnier than the show ever was.

11. It was kind of pointless
I mean, this "comedy" show was going to be taking the same positions as the rest of Fox News so why try and re-hash it and attempt to make it funny? Probably a bunch of Fox News viewers watched it like it was a regular news show and couldn't understand why there was a laugh track on it and got annoyed.

"We bound incapacitated geriatric patients to wheelchairs, set the brakes and locked them in a room with no windows and plain white walls and played episodes of the show, and they preferred to watch their own skin flake."

OR Foxspeak for " That Fucking John Stewart!"

I've watched as much as I could stand of this show and I can tell you...
...this was the worst piece of shit I've ever seen.

It is bad. Really bad. Imagine the worst years of SNL. This was way worse.

The truth is, as I wrote on my blog this morning, conservatives just aren't funny. Sure, there's the rare exception, like P.J. O'Rourke who gets by on sharp wit, but topical comedy is mostly about ripping on the establishment. Well, conservatives are viewed as 'the establishment'.

I suggested that if they do indeed retool this sucker, instead of trying to imitate TDS, they should do like Colbert does and mock themselves. Let's face it, FOX Noise is a joke, and most people know that. If they parodied and poked fun at themselves, it may even make them look a little humbler. Then again, the arrogant FNC is not known for humility.
