The host, Bill O’Reilly, falsely accused FreeRepublic.com of having the following comments on its site: "Homosexuals are dogs," "I hate blacks," "Hillary Clinton should be assassinated," and "A stray bullet should kill her."

To be blunt, those comments were made up by the O’Reilly Factor.

Because he allowed Kristen Taylor to claim that they IMMEDIATELY delete inappropriate comments as soon as they are found. Bill gave him a pass and advised they should do a better job. And Bill said to Kristen, "You're right, I'm sure a lot of it is planted." Yeah, right,Billo.

Freepers were given a scolding to be more careful at cleaning up what MUST be the work of disruptors, but Daily Kos was called a "hate site", a "left wing Nazi hate site", "the Ku Klux Klan".

The problem is that freepers don't see anything inappropriate about the most distasteful, hateful, dangerous things they say. I'm sure the posts that O'Reilly quoted were only cleaned up in response to a heads-up from FOX News. I just took 2 minutes at Free Republic and it took me all of one minute to find half a dozen racist comments in the first thread I looked at.

Let me assure you that, contrary to how the O’Reilly Factor portrayed FreeRepublic.com to you and the viewing public, FreeRepublic.com is not a site where people feel comfortable posting a comment such as “I hate blacks.”

In other words, they'll think it and hint about it and complain about non-whites, but they don't feel comfortable being honest about their racism.

I used to watch The Factor 3-4 times a week. Now, after seeing what he has said and done to us without cause or proof...he has lost all credibility with me.

translation: "I enjoyed watching him make up complete BS about other people. But this ain't funny!"

O’Reilly has lost all credibility in this household. He will say anything to inflate his ratings. He plays both ends against the middle to avoid alienating good and evil alike. He stands for nothing. His moral compass has two negative poles. He calls himself an independent, but in reality he’s a registered charlatan. If he were a politician, he would have to change his last name to Clinton.

35. I notice how he doesn't give any real examples from Kos

other than essentially a political cartoon of Lieberman and Bush, which really doesn't live up to his claims of "hatefulness", while he can come up with dozens of blatantly hateful things from FreeRepublic just like that. He nevertheless expects his audience to swallow his claim that Kos is far, far more hateful than FR. Of course his audience isn't likely to be sceptical enough to actually need him to provide evidence for his claims.

I'm not a regular reader of Kos (I find its format more difficult to follow than DU's) but I've certainly never seen anything there that comes anywhere close to FR in terms of hatefulness. Orally knows that people won't challenge his claims if he doesn't provide any actual evidence.
