I'll give Mitt Romney this ..
His campaign has the ultra-right upstate of South Carolina covered with signs. Far, far more visibility than all of the other GOP and Democratic presidential candidates combined. I even saw a "Mitt Romney" sign on the edge of the BoJo (Bob Jones "University") campus today. Keep this up and he will be a shoo-in for winning the SC GOP primary on name recognition alone. And I thought this was McCain Country.

1. And perfect timing, too. Only 5 more months until the primary.

16. That truly is amazing. He couldn't possibly be as dim as he appears.
He's got that gameshow host vacuous look.

20. Yes, Wink Romney
....but he's no dolt, that is for sure. A sleazy, sneaky, lying son-of-a-pro-choicer, maybe, but no dummy. No one should mis-underestimate this one; I suspect he could be even more dangerous than the monkey prince. At least even the stupid people were able to eventually figure out that Bush was stupid; this won't happen with Mitt Martindale, er Romney.

9. Yeah, it will take the Bob Jones students at least that long to
string all those letters together and make a stab at pronouncing his name, to say nothing of committing it to memory.

10. If they could wrap their minds around voting for Reagan or
the two Bushes, you can bet they will wrap them around Mittsy as well when and if the time comes. Fundies can justify just about anything if push comes to shove.

22. But wouldn't the hardcore fundies view Romney's Mormonism
Edited on Wed Aug-15-07 03:01 PM by coalition_unwilling
as little more than heresy? The LDS claim that Angel Moroni revealed him-/her-/itself to Joseph Smith in the early 19th century would be viewed by hardcore fundies as apostasy, I think. Not sure how evangelical Christianity views Mormonism but I do not think it is viewed too kindly.

6. Yeah, you're right. He does have a lot of money.
Why doesn't anyone call him on it like they do Edwards? Could it be that Edwards wasn't actually born into money and actually had to (gasp!) work for it? Or that Edwards actually helps some without money where Romney cares little, if at all, about us poor folks and that's how it's supposed to be in republican world?

21. Because Edwards says he's allegedly "for" the poor.
I didn't see that in his Senate career, but that's what he says.

Everyone knows that Republicans don't care about the poor. :)

24. Mittens is worth about $250 million
according to his recently released financial statements. That's a hell of a lot more than Edwards is worth, by a factor of 10.

7. Good. Let's see the religious right Christian evangelicals vote for a Mormon.
They'll probably stay home on Election Day, which is fine by me.

Hi, Mac! :hi:

vote for a Mormon.

on the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago. It was hand-painted and a little tattered. Does that count?

25. Ron Paul has a lot of signs out in the upstate, too. Also, a BoJo clarification.
From my unscientific observation, Ron Paul has the second highest number of signs (indeed, some banners too) in this part of upstate SC behind Romney.

BoJo clarification: When I posted that I saw a MittRom sign on the edge of the Bob Jones "University" campus, I didn't mean to imply that it was/is sanctioned by BoJo. My guess is that a Romney worker stuck it there this morning (the signs were all up and down the 291-Bypass), and the BoJos will extirpate it before the sun sets.
