Would You Buy This "TV?"
Would You Buy This "TV?"

It's a new twist on an old scam, but one Vacaville woman saw right through it. She told police that someone approached her trying to sell a flat screen television really cheap. She declined but grabbed the seller's license plate number.

When police caught up with up with the person selling the "TVs," they checked his inventory and found they weren't really televisions. Police say they were oven doors wrapped in shrink wrap and, clear packing tape, complete with electronic store ads and tags. So when all wrapped up, the front of the oven looked just like the screen of a TV.

Also, police found boxes that looked like they were laptop computers but instead were two 12- inch floor tiles wrapped in bubble wrap. Police say the tiles have the same weight and size of a laptop computer.

1. As if anyone shouldn't have known
there was something wrong. If they WERE what they said they were, they were most likely hot merchandise--more proof to the adage that you can't con an honest...person.

2. Good ol' American ingenuity.
Damn, I love this country.

A messianic, delusional idiot in the White House and such creative minds out in the streets.

4. I've been offered stereo equipment from the back of a van.....
three times. Each time, from different young dudes who claim to have "merchandise not on the invoice" (or some such B.S.) that they need to unload quickly at a bargain price. Fortunately, I can smell shit from far away.

7.  One of my sons got snookered that way when he was about 18.
I just laughed and told him that little lesson was one of the best he would ever have.

6. I wonder how many sales they made?

Seems like a lot of people might not be willing to go to the police and admit to being that stupid. The perps were probably relying on that too.
