We have so much work to do educating people on
conservation

I went to the store, no big deal right

These days I bring my cloth bags along

Employees packed stuff in grocery bags from the store, just becuase I wasn't fast enough to pass them the recyclable bags

Folks they were young, early 20s, worst case

We have so much work to do

1. yeah same problem
there is no way i can ever move quickly, so i don't see how i'll be able to use the bags except for quick trips when i have only one bag and can "u scan" it

we have a labor shortage and some of the kids working are actually teen-agers, a great paying job for a teen and i'm glad to see them doing well, and i know they get rated by supervisors on their speed, but at times i feel like i'm gumming up the whole works just by trying to buy food

2. a lady a few down the line from me
in checkout gave me a dirty look and shook her head in disgust even though i was packing myself and moving pretty fast, if i do say so myself. the checkout lady asked me where i got the bags and said she had a friend from europe whose bag had broken, so i gave her www.reusablebags.com and she wrote it down and thanked me. it's gonna be a learning curve for some....

3. My store is now selling blue collapsible bags!!
:woohoo:

I bought two of them @ $1.99 each to go with my canvass shopping bag! ;)
They hold a lot and have a squared off, solid bottoms, so they stand up
if needed. I was thrilled to see them at the register! I tossed them up
on the counter first, after ripping off the tags and handed the tags to
the cashier and the bagger used them right away! It was so nice and much
neater in my car trunk and easier than plastic or paper! Everything stayed
in the bags for the ride home. I didn't have canned goods rolling around
in the trunk this time. ;) Now I have one in the car and one on the doorknob
as a reminder.

12. My new grocery bags are made from recycled plastic and are reuseable.
I agree, that people need to be made more aware but I think what my store is doing
is a good step in the right direction! The bags are placed on the end cap, as you
go to the cashier. Right there in your face! ;) We need more stores to do this!!
After all, they're the one's buying those plastic bags in bulk and giving them to us!

8. Demoulas Marketbasket
in the northeast - MA. And I checked the tag
and they were only $1.19, not $1.99. My mistake.
They're in Texas too, I think. They're online.

Welcome to DU! :hi:

when I do that, but not always

I'm serious we still have a lot of work to do

I wonder if that has anything to do with the five cents back
