CAN'T SEE THE FOREST THROUGH THE SLEAZE

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crmUQ2LP05I

So I'm all browsing through YouTube and I come across THIS GOD-FORSAKEN VIDEO. It's a pretty low-tech smash up of faded in and out still images, narrated by some young, surfer-boy with hip gravely voice. It's called "The Solution to Climate Change." The narrator concludes that he doesn't need to find a solution to climate change because everything getting better. He cites:
• The ozone hole closing by 2050. Sorry dear, that ain't the climate change we's talkin' a boot. But that is good news.
• Glaciers of Antarctic, Greenland and Norway are growing/thickening. Which is wrong, wrong, wrong.
• Some part of the US are getting cooler..It's call climate CHANGE, you ninny! Some parts of the world will get colder (like the UK, if the Gulf Stream quits), some warmer, some wetter and some drier.
• Plants will grow faster with all the extra CO2 in the air. But that extra plant food probably won't offset higher temperatures, changes in rainfall and nitrogen in the soil.
• All those horrid pollutants of yesteryear are going away - CFCs, DDT etc. Good thing it's all just stored in the Arctic waters, animals, and people!
• All the wonderful clean energy technologies! Even thought they only account for around 6% of energy use in the US?
• We have reached "peak oil" and oil production is decreasing..I am obviously not sleeping with someone in the oil industry and therefore have no idea why "peak oil" means that climate change will go away.
What is this guy on? I know, I know, I should have ignored it and moved on. BUT SERIOUSLY? WTF?

1. I know some peak oil prophets of doom.
Based of their predictions peak oil will solve global warming in one of two ways. If it happens slowly, it will force conservation on a scale not yet seen. If it happens fast, it will wreck the global economy and everyone will be too busy scratching out a meager living or jumping out of windows on Wall street to care about global warming anymore.

2. Or worse yet (and much more likely)

we quit using cheap oil (because it won't be "cheap" anymore) and start using cheaper fossil fuels...

And we accelerate Global Warming.

Canadian tar sands... coal... etc.

Then, if we somehow survive another 100 years or so, we can talk about Peak Coal.

Sigh.
