There has apparently been a murder next door
Earlier today I was startled when a detective from Fullerton, CA PD came to my door telling me he was investigating a crime, asking me about my neighbors... if I had heard any arguing or loud noises...

just now they have wheeled out a body bag.

:scared:

I have only lived here 9 mos and have not met these neighbors yet... but my deck overlooks their back yard and I have seen them etc. Way too close to home

it looked like CSI outside my window all day

9. Update:
http://www.latimes.com/news/local/orange/la-me-homicides18aug18,1,1393795.story?coll=la-editions-orange&ctrack=1&cset=true

Fullerton detectives are investigating the deaths of a man and woman whose bodies were found on the floor of the woman's apartment in the 300 block of East Amerige Avenue.

The Police Department said both had been shot and that a handgun was discovered near the bodies, which were found Thursday afternoon. Police said they had been dead at least a day.

The woman's employer had called police to report her missing after she failed to appear for work, which led police to check her apartment.

Authorities have not released the names of the pair, saying they are awaiting autopsy results to confirm their identities. City spokeswoman Sylvia Mudrick said the two appeared to be boyfriend and girlfriend.

10. Are you sure you want the whole internet to know
what block you live on? If I were you I would edit this and the city name out of the OP before some local freeper nutjob sees it.

12. Whose employer calls the police to report someone missing a single day of work?
Maybe it makes sense in the context of her job, but it just seems weird to me. Everywhere I've worked, there's been someone who has quit by just not showing up (although they get in touch eventually to get their last check).

16. I guess that makes sense.
Maybe they had just discussed something about definitely being at work the night before, I don't know. It just seemed like the police would be a few people down the list to call, and not on the day she didn't show.

14. Mine would call my dad (my emergency contact)
if I didn't answer the phone. It would be highly unlike me to come to work without calling someone.

17. Right, that's more like what I'm used to. The police wouldn't even factor into it, at least not...
...that day. Maybe the people at work were aware of her being in unusual danger (a violent ex or a stalker or something). I don't know.

19. Yeah, maybe they knew there was a problem in their personal life

My dad has a key to my house, so he could check it out if I didn't show up to work. And I know he'd go crazy trying to find me. Once I was supposed to go to my mom's house and I fell asleep and took a 3 hour nap instead, and I didn't answer my phone (b/c I was asleep and didn't hear it) and I had like 10 messages. I called both my parents afterwards and my dad has just been about to drive over to check on me.

20. It must be something like that.
And I guess there are people who aren't like you and I with family who could and would check on us that have no other emergency contact. It makes me feel grateful for my family and friends.

I'm my dad's only child, so he'd be there in a heartbeat. :) And I'm glad that I live close enough that he's able to do that.

15. There was a double murder in a house diagonally behind mine
where I was growing up. It turned out to be a double murder suicide. Very sad. The rest of the family lived there for years afterwards, I think they still might.

21. Happened to me a couple of weeks ago--no murder.
Edited on Fri Aug-17-07 05:49 PM by blondeatlast
The cops questioned me as well. They were also at the house for almost the entire day before the body was released to the coroner.

The son was arrested for going batshit crazy on the cops but I had the same thoughts you did, but my neighbor (directly across the street) died from natural causes. Ve4ry bizarre but all turned out to be okay (aside from my nice neighbor's passing, of course).

Creepy indeed--but at least in my sitch, it was nothing alarming (but I certainly had exactly the same thoughts you have had!)
