Poll question: If a US citizen is charged with and convicted of planning a foiled terrorist attack in the US ...
how severe a penalty should they pay?

1. Depends on how much he/she was tortured, how warped his mind
is as a result of said torture, did this person get a lawyer and the full benefit of the judicial system in place to supposedly protect US citizens? I'd really like to know the facts, not what I'm told by a bunch of people I cannot believe.

2. I'm with you.
I think the only reason Padilla was convicted is that the jurors, like most Americans, are terrified of terrorism right now and were inclined to give the government the benefit of the doubt. One was quoted in the NY Times this morning as having her mind made up before deliberations even began. In a case as complex as Padilla's, that is not a good sign that he got a fair trial.

3. i think the jurors were terrified by the thought of how a cowed populace..
would judge them. They probably believed that if they found Padilla innocent, that they would be partially blamed for the next (false flag op) terrorist attack.

4. That quote alone should be sufficient to get this verdict thrown out.
In a nation that believed in "fair trial", anyway...:eyes:
