Co-defendant claims Vick participated in execution of dogs..
looking more and more like Vick have a difficult time clearing his "good name"....

A statement signed by Phillips as part of his plea agreement said Vick participated in the execution of about eight dogs, some by drowning and hanging.

"Phillips agrees and stipulates that these dogs all died as a result of the collective efforts of Peace, Phillips and Vick," the statement said.

Phillips and Peace also backed Taylor's assertion that Vick was involved in gambling.

"The 'Bad Newz Kennels' operation and gambling monies were almost exclusively funded by Vick," statements by the two men say.

Peace and Phillips were charged with conspiracy to travel in interstate commerce in aid of unlawful activities and conspiring to sponsor a dog in an animal fighting venture.

"Did you conspire with these folks to sponsor a dogfighting venture?" U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson asked Peace.

He replied, "Yes, sir."

3. What is the attraction?
Vick didn't pursue his sick little hobby in a vacuum; he apparently had a pretty good circle of folks around to carry this on. What's the attraction to dogfighting? I just plain don't get it.

This also puts me in mind of former Portland Trailblazer Qyntel Woods, who allegedly abandoned a dog of his at a shelter because the dog wouldn't fight for him. The incident enjoyed a very brief run in the local media before Woods was shipped off to Siberia (or the Knicks, as if there's a difference). Woods denied any wrongdoing, and denied that he ever told anyone that he was abandoning the dog because it wouldn't fight for him. I would think the Vick story should revive a little interest into what Woods may or may not have been doing a few years ago.

But at bottom: What is the attraction here?

5. These are people who feel very weak and small inside
The dog represents themselves: a victory builds them up, while losing shows weakness (as they apply it to themselves) and must be destroyed.

Sick, small minded people, likely beaten and otherwise abused as children.

Just my two-cents.

4. I thought there was a 9:00 A.M. deadline this morning regarding the plea deal?
I've been checking news sites all day trying to figure out whether he's taking it or not, now that nearly everyone is turning evidence against him, but still don't know what's happening...

6. It looks like his lawyers gambled..
they wanted to see what the prosecutors got out of the co-defendants before they copped a plea. I heard this morning he had until 9:00 a.m. We'll have to see if they play hardball with him now, and take the deal off the table. If he goes before a jury, he's toast.
