I despise Welfare Queens and the Cadillacs they rode in on.
Seriously, screw them.

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The Federal Reserve pumped 38 billion dollars into the banking system Friday, marking its biggest operation since the week of the 9/11 terror attacks, as it vied to shore up the US financial system.

1. You mean we borrowed the money from China?
It's all smoke and mirrors that will break our children's backs.

Fuck what Bush has done to our country.

6. It's called a bailout
Like what happened to the S&Ls back in the 80s when the evil Charles Hurwitz was involved during Reaganomics.

9. Check out this HOT video of finance guy ripping CNBC "very serious people"...
... who believe in Big Government when big business gets itself in trouble, but not for the little guy.

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/08/17/kudlow-gets-hit-crying-over-wingnut-welfare-for-wall-street/

At the end, they all start ganging up on the truth-teller, repeatedly making the argument that "the whole reason the Fed exists is to serve as The Lender Of Last Resort". It wasn't mentioned, but for **conservatives** to say such a thing (and pretending that it's unquestionable no less) is the height of hypocrisy.

10. so, I had to pay back fema with my
grant proceeds and if I get any money from my insurance company, if they do pay my claim, I have to pay back the grant, yet corporate amerika gets all the bail out it needs (which was what the grants to katrina survivors actually ending up being for the insurance corps that made $44 plus billion in in profits in '05 and $66plus billion in '06 - corporate welfare only we recipients are belittled for needing and accepting the help.)

There is something really, really wrong with this picture and I am too damned tired to try to figure it out.

:(

14. most definitely serious
sadly, that is how it works.

grant monies to pay back fema, sba loans limited if grant money awarded, if insurance proceeds which you are due under the policy are awarded, those have to be used to pay back the grant.

what a whirl wind ride this has been, and that beast in the gulf better keep moving west - "go west young storm" *sigh*

21. I wish you would write a separate post about that, because I had no idea.
Who gave the grants that have to be paid back - was it the govt? And why does FEMA get paid back? That makes no sense to me. Could you do a post on this?

24. it's really sorta more than I want to get in to as a thread/OP of it's
own right now. I want to get this behind me and on firm ground, my house built and some healing before I try to share. It's kinda convoluted and to give it justice, it has to be properly laid out.

16. WE have a retirement account, OK?
WE are affected by this also.

However, retirement accounts do NOT make up the bulk of the stock market. Not even close--like 20 percent.

20. Yes, but many people don't.
And some people have huge retirement savings, or income from investments, while many have nothing.

I'm not judging anyone, just making an observation.

17. "When the Shit Hits the Fan' (with new updated lyrics...)
(to the tune of the Circle Jerks "When the Shit Hits the Fan")

In a sluggish economy
Inflation, Recession,
Hits the Land of the Free.
Standing in a bond sales line.
Blame the workers for hard times.

We just get by, however we can.
We all gotta duck when the shit hits the fan.

Ten bankers in a Cadillac,
Standing in line for bail-out checks.
"Let's all leech off the state."
"Gee the money is really great!"

We just get by, however we can.
We all gotta duck when the shit hits the fan.

Federal Subsidies.
Baskets of currencies.
Discount window loans.
Plunge protection teams.

Free Market Economy,
Has run out on You and Me.

We do whatever we can,
Gotta duck when the shit hits the fan......

22. It is so funny that right-wingers never talk about corporate welfare
they always focus on black, single women raising children.

You'll never hear about the Billions of dollars that corporations get in tax breaks and subsidies.

25. I remember those stupid bumper stickers that said "Work
Harder! Millions on Welfare Depend on You!" So, we had one done that said "Work Harder! Millionaires on Corporate Welfare Depend on You!" Because THAT is the real truth, and too many people are letting them get away with it.
