2. I thought of Bush when I read it. Now I am shocked.
Bush will have us back in the cold war so his friend's can build even more war stuff than we can pay for. What is it with this nut in the WH that every thing he gets near turns into a big pile of shit.

3. They are making us burn fuel. It's a poker hand and they

have enough money to buy the deck, and sly enough to feint. It's a good move on their part. The fighters have to scramble to escort because anti aircraft missiles don't have the range. The old Nike Hercules did, but the Patriot...nahhhh. The Herc could only track one target at a time and had a unique way of dealing with multiple bogeys (wink wink).

It's not so much that they have to fly the escort, but the fuel has to be delivered, stored, etc.

They are essentially forcing us to guard a very large airspace and fight a war at the same time. It may also be a way to make us "uncommit" one or more carriers and take some pressure off of Iran. In fact this may be Russia's way of telling Bush and the Republicans to stop the Nuc talk.

Another thing occurs to me. If the Russians pull out of the arms agreements and starts putting medium/short range missiles on their east border we are going to wish we had those old Nike Hercs back on line. Goodness, it's a race into nostalgia. It's laughable that the old Russian bombers turn out to be a trump card forgotten in the deck.
