Go Ahead. Drown It. See What We Get?
Edited on Fri Aug-17-07 08:22 PM by JFN1
Sorry, but I must rant now. Those who don't like rants, should click out.

See, it's just sick to me.

"Conservatives" say, "I want the Federal government small enough to drown in a bathtub."

What do we get?

Federal disaster response teams more disastrous than the disasters they are chartered to relieve. Falling bridges. 210% more deaths (since 2006) in mines. $986,000 washers. Completely unchecked corruption.

Meanwhile, "conservatives" who bitch and moan about welfare for poor people, are cheering on the current Fed bailout of wealthy corporations and investors. They think it's fucking great. Now, I ask 'ya - what the fucking fuck is conservative about that?

Okay. Fine.

I see how it is, I've not been blind or anything. It's just at times like these, when I know there are families in Utah suffering, as a rich conservative Bush loving FUCK is sitting in his McMansion contemplating how to get out of his responsibility to those aforementioned families, I really fucking hate it.

I just wish these "conservative" FUCKS would come out and say it straight for once: Our only use to them is as slaves, and if we don't have value to them as slaves, why then, we have no value whatsoever.

But being the cowards they are, they never will speak such a truth anywhere the rest of us can hear it.

For if they did, they know the culture war they've declared on the rest of us, would be well and truly joined.

1. what good is money
when there is no product safety, the meat inspection has been cut way back, drive your check book over crumbling bridges to the
bank or let your kid get lead poisoning from his new toys. Oh and by the way, terra, terra, terra, better keep re-electing
GOP crooks into public office.

2. They've miscalculated, and their war is nearly upon them.
It's dangerous to create a large population with nothing left to lose.

3. Great point.
And it's not like humanity has never seen that before. Haven't these stupid conservatives ever heard the phrase, "Let them eat cake?"

5. They've been writing their own history for so long they've started believing the lies.
That, or they're just so busy grabbing more money and power that they can't be bothered with possible consequences now.

7. Probably both.
I read an astonishing statistic the other day (in our local paper) that said some 300,000 barrels a day of oil has gone missing from Iraq - for the past four years. At an average of $70 a barrel, that works out to $21,000,000 a day - for FOUR YEARS. That's $7,665,000,000 a year, bringing the total theft to around $30,660,000,000. These numbers weren't in the article I read, i put them together myself, just to see how much it worked out to.

So in Iraq alone, that we know of, there is what - $42 billion missing?

How fucking deep do their pockets need to be?

6. That is a bit of wisdom, truly. Cornering any animal is risky...cornerning a human animal
with a gun is far more so.
Just sayin'...

8. Alfred Hitchcock once said something about creating suspense...
...and I can only paraphrase without searching for the exact quote, but this is the gist of it. And, of course, it was in the context of making his movies. He said that you could make an audience jump by showing two people having a conversation at a table, then suddenly having a bomb go off under the table, blowing them up. Or, if you really want to create suspense, show the audience the bomb from the beginning, with the two people completely unaware of it until it blows.

I feel like I, we, have seen that bomb ticking away for quite some time now, and the suspense is killing me. I almost feel jealous of those who are blissfully unaware of it. This is torture.

And, of course, I could be completely wrong.

Couldn't agree more. How long have we been talking about the ticking bomb? Since 2001! Again, I completely agree with you - ignorance is bliss all too often.

One who does nothing for the poor and everything for the wealthy. One that is not responsible for the welfare and safety of the people, everyone for himself unless you are rich.

15. The irony is
they've openly declared class war on us. Most of us aren't listening.

What's that sound? Is it the elite flushing your retirement down the drain? Your health insurance? Your legal rights? Your freedom of speech?

I admit to being stone deaf, and would still be if I hadn't been put through the wringer already. Don't be as deaf as me!

17. We're conditioned to be deaf
It's like that movie, 'They Live' - telling the population to 'SLEEP...SLEEP...SLEEP...'

Only we're put to sleep with amazing tales about runaway brides, missing white children, and how many botox injections some celebrity got last week (soon to be an exciting mini-series!).

It's scary how well that movie still applies today, although I guess it shouldn't come as a surprise since it was basically the same crew in the White House.

These.

Fucking.

Republicans.

Never.

Learn.

They just keep failing over and over again and their corporate sponsors are loving every minute of it.

Republicans hate Americans who aren't rich.

25. I knew when you said "Drown It" you were quoting that bugger Norquist
Bathtub, huh?

Watch it, suckers, 'cause one day that government (elected by a disillusioned, lied-to, pissed-off society) is going to rise up out of that bathtub like Glenn Close in "Fatal Attraction"...

And it's a pretty small bathroom we're all in (not much room to hide)!

From http://www.commondreams.org/views03/0225-10.htm
Healthcare Reveals Real "Conservative" Agenda - Drown Democracy In A Bathtub
by Thom Hartmann
They're hoping Americans won't notice.

Indeed, in late February a "senior administration official" presented The New York Times with a masterpiece of obfuscation and avoidance of responsibility. Speaking of the administration's plans to push users of Medicare and Medicaid into the hands of for-profit corporations, this "official" said, "We're looking at two programs that have worked, that have provided health coverage to people who need it, and we want to help them work better."

Ted Kennedy was more straightforward in his objection to the Bush scheme. "Medicare is a firm commitment to every elderly American," Kennedy said, "not a profit center for H.M.O.s and other private insurance plans."

Robin Toner and Robert Pear of The New York Times wrote in an understated tone that, "The magnitude of the Bush proposals is only gradually dawning on members of Congress." ...

My comment:
What Norquist and his ilk are really pushing is fascism - corporations taking over our government. That's what these so-called 'conservatives' mean when they say 'small government' and 'privatization'. When they say 'small' they are only referring to the part of our government not under corporate control.
