Or, maybe not, that's how we're all expected to think now, isn't it? Nuance is for losers. :hi: MKJ

Some of those "barely legal" types could be my mother.

And some of those 'Hugh!' monsters of man-slab that they brag about would barely pass unnoticed in any locker room or gang-shower I've ever been in.

I've worked around lawyers for 32 years. Some have done a lot of good. Some are greedy bastards. One is my daughter (although I've never worked with her), and I KNOW she can be trusted.

Why, cause it hurts less to get ...... when you've got one?

I've really got nothing against lawyers, but you set yourself up for that.

12. I would add...
...the music industry.

Dr. Hunter Thompson said it best:

"The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side."

They're their own economy these days, and their survival and growth are dependent on overcrowding. It's a serpent eating its tail, sadly.

ETA: I'm not implying that individual law enforcement officers are necessarily untrustworthy, but I do believe that the prison industrial complex, with its close ties to law enforcement, is untrustworthy.

this has me wondering what industry we CAN trust? I notice agriculture is not on anybody's list so far--so we trust that?

---------------------

OK--here' my list:

Corporate Media, Advertising
Petroleum Industry & Nuclear E
Food Industry
Big Pharma, Healthcare Industry
Financial Industries (all together)
Defense Industry
Legal Industry
Construction Industry
Fundamentalist Religion Industry*
Manufacturing

Edit--just have to add Telecommunications Industry :puke:
(--after seeing someone else mention it).

*Agree with the OP that religion has become an industry, although I can't say that ALL organized religion is bad.

Interesting to look at all that we don't trust here....

33. Nobodys saying
everybody who works in these industries are evil. Don't take it so personally...it's not like any one person bears the responsibility to fix a sick system.

I think the point is that the American corporate sector has a LOT wrong with it. More wrong with it than we can really afford to support anymore.

A lot of people who work in these industries are all too well aware of the deficiencies. Why not talk about the ways they routinely exploit their customers, clients, & patients.

PS --I'm married to a scientist "shill" who is not stupid or money-grubbing, but has no trouble defining the deep problems inherent in our current ways of doing bidness.
