Tony Snow wants Dems to “throw off election-season blinders"-and Finish the 'surge'

WASHINGTON, Aug. 17 — The White House plans to use a report next month assessing progress in Iraq to outline a plan for gradual troop reductions beginning next year that would fall far short of the drawdown demanded by Congressional opponents of the war, according to administration and military officials...........

...........

Senior administration officials are already making a stark case against any congressionally mandated withdrawal of troops. Arguing in a speech in New York on Thursday that chaos would follow an American withdrawal, the White House press secretary, Tony Snow, pointedly accused Democrats of ignoring positive developments on the ground in Iraq in their haste to end the American involvement.

“Unfortunately, a number of key Democrats, having perused polls indicating that the public has grown impatient or discontented with the war, have refused to contemplate victory,” Mr. Snow said in the speech, at the Union League Club.

He later expressed hope that the Democrats would “throw off election-season blinders and join us in finishing what the surge has begun.”.....................

decision above ALL others

I really try not to wish that person ill, but does anyone doubt that the cancer eating away at him is not due at least in some small part to the lies he KNOWS he tells every day of his life, and that he owes his living to have been nothing but the lowest sort of shill for the worst administration in history.

I hope he lives long enough to be forced to deal with this reality.

11. Kharma train pulling into the station for all of them someday, I fervently hope.
seriously, how often do you wonder if any of these monsters consider honestly the things they do/say?

are we here so far removed from reality that we can't even consider the possibility that we're.....wrong?

is it wrong to want to preserve the ecosystem for our posterity?

is it wrong to want everyone in the world to have a life free from the basic wants?.......

......etc., all at what cost? that billionaires become multi-millionaires?

how does one understand a mindset like that?

15. I do not think it possible to understand their mindset, at least for me it is not
possible as I am so far removed for it.

17. see post number 16 for a sadly ironic/nostalgic explanation
Salon's Table Talk had a LONG running thread (thousands and thousands of posts, literally) with the title "C=MI" as in conservatism equals mental illness.

9. Finish what the surge has begun?
What has it begun, Tony? Exactly what? All I see is more of the same and getting worse.

And how is it going to finish? What will it look like? A Sunni dominated nation or a Shi'a one?

And what about the Kurds? Will they live in peace or start their own country? And how will Turkey feel about that?

Yeah, I know. Details, details.

can still sling out the partisan shots and insults. Mr. Snow represents well the sickness found in modern Republicanism...he's a true believer.

13. Perhaps he'd like us to finish destroying the world before leaving it?
How can anyone who has been described as a "true believer" of Bush be that deluded?

He should step down now and hope to God he comes to his senses before leaving this world to his own children. Does he not think that someday they will judge his role in this administration?

14. hey mr. snow....
"Unfortunately, a number of key Democrats, having perused polls indicating that the public has grown impatient or discontented with the war, have refused to contemplate victory,”

....maybe the public has grown 'impatient and discontented' with perpetual profiteering-war and key Dems 'refuse to contemplate' more useless deaths, something you and your corporate handlers won't 'contemplate'....

....unless maybe the 'useless death' is your own sorry, cancer-laden ass, in which case, I'd find some usefulness....
