I would suggest filling up your gas tanks and fuel oil tanks just in case |
|
big oil reacts as usual to this hurricane. I don't know how much damage will be done to oil drilling and refineries, but we will pay.
Be ready to be screwed again.

2. There was also a fire at a Chevron refinery last week |
|
Topping up between now and Wednesday is a good idea.
We all know they're going to hike the prices, damage or not.

3. Even if the storm tracks more south and the eye hits Mexico... |
|
...that is going to cause some evil waves all the way to the coasts of Florida, Louisiana and so on. So I would guess the oil rigs will see some rough seas at the very minimum. :(

6. We get a lot of our oil from Mexico... |
|
so, if it does damage in Mexico, we will certainly still get hit with higher gas prices from this storm.

5. I filled up last night |

Wasn't thinking about the hurricane, but the prices are comparatively low right now so it seemed like the smart thing to do.

There was a news story in Des Moines the other day about how gas prices in central Iowa were lower than they are in eastern Iowa. Guess what....the VERY NEXT DAY gas prices went up 18 cents in one fell swoop!!! It wouldn't have hurt so much, except that the SO and I were talking about gas prices probably going up soon...didn't expect it that morning!!!!

8. They already started evacuating the offshore rigs |
|
Hopefully it doesn't hit near Houston, where a whole lotta refineries are.
