Support Keith Olbermann
Aparantly his ratings arent that great, they fell around 20-25 percent from Spring of this year compared to November of 2006, im not sure how they are doing now, but Olbermann shouldn't be made another example of the fact that "liberal media" will fail, while conservative hacks like O'Reilly, Tucker, and Rush can stay on the air for ages.

BTW, I realize Olbermann already has a contract extension

1. keith takes too much time off..
Edited on Thu Aug-23-07 03:30 AM by SoCalDem
When he's not on, we change the channel..and when he starts with the stupid stuff, we mute it ..
He needs to move his honeybunny to NYC, so he can be on more often..

3. After he does the news parts
I switch channels, switch back at near the end of show if he does a special comment. Lately I've just been recording it so I can fast forward through the commercials and get to the end

yeah, the "human interest" stuff is not for me either. If I want to watch 'stupid stuff' I'd be tuned to faux

13. Some of us like the mix.
I don't necessarily love every segment every day, but I don't want an hour of nothing but somber straight news either.

14. And by the way, "we" don't have that "one lousy hour,"
HE does. And he fills it the way he likes.

12. Let's see, after WPITW is over there's usually about nine minutes left in the show
and then he has a fina story. Where is the interview segment going to go?

11. Where do you think his "honeybunny" has been living since October?
They're sharing a residence, for Pete's sake... The time off is not to visit her; it's to do other stuff. Like go to spring training (although sometimes he even works during that), promote Countdown or Football Night in America, move...and, yeah, sometimes he just likes a nice vacation.

2. There were Congressional elections in Nov. 2006.
I would expect a political show to get higher ratings then.

Olbermann factor boosts MSNBC
TELEVISION | Dem debate turns to reigning liberal as host

August 7, 2007
BY DOUG ELFMAN Television critic

MSNBC's "Countdown With Keith Olbermann" is doing so well -- now with 72 percent more viewers since a year ago -- Olbermann was tapped to host tonight's AFL-CIO debate of Democratic presidential candidates at Soldier Field on MSNBC and WMAQ-Channel 5.
"Countdown" is a hit because its mix of politics and pop culture makes it the most entertaining newscast in America. One minute, Olbermann critiques politicians and pundits in the style of a witty professor; the next he flashes video of a man doing squats on the back of a giant elephant, or some such thing.

Olbermann credits some of "Countdown's" success to O'Reilly, whom he calls a "crazy demagogue" in the vein of Joe McCarthy.

16. Not a liberal?
Really? Kind of seems like one to me.

Unless you are the sort of person who assumes you're own worldview is simply the truth, whereas every other worldview is wrong.

but generally in the last 8 years or so, even before that progressive ideas have been right, heck since the dawn of time progressive ideas have been more right than wrong.

9. The numbers are based on nielson ratings
it doesn't really matter if you watch it or not who ever has those little pamphlets to fill out dictates what we watch. Its all kind of stupid really. And if you DVR a show you cant record it for nielson ratings because its based not on content but on what commercials you see.

22. I Absolutely Love Keith, But Has He Ever Considered Changing His Show's Format?
Edited on Thu Aug-23-07 07:31 AM by fightindonkey
His show comes across as small in its look and seems like a show some would pass over. Why don't they give him a proper studio and panel?
