Democratic candidate supporters and well people who just don't like the vile...might I suggest |
|
Edited on Thu Aug-23-07 08:38 AM by xultar
just letting those who are hell bent on posting bullshit post it. Hillary Clinton supporters...y'all have been put through it. This is really pointed @ you.
You can put LBN on RSS and still get the news and participate on other forums. At this point. I'd suggest giving it up. Stay out of GD and GDP. Hang in the different DU forums or on other boards all together and don't get involved. There is no way you'll ever see civility. Notice that the people we like to hear from like Elizabeth Edwards doesn't come here anymore? Why would she get caught here in this mess?
So, let them have this. Let them have DU. Don't participate in the madness. @ This point what does it matter? What is DU in the scheme of things anyway? It's not like it is a force in the process and does anything significant for or against candidates or the Democratic party. So why get into it? Wouldn't it be better if we all participated on the candidate blogs instead and worked positively for the candidates we do support? I think that would be really cool. We could send letters, emails, make calls etc. We could also send letters and call congress on our own about things on our own.
Right now I'm volunteering for a Small Dog Rescue and I am planning on using that time to get to know people in prep for my campaign work later. Get away from DU and discover other avenues to get the message out that we need to rid ourselves of the Republicans in government in 2k8. After the Primaries we can come back to DU and get together for a big push on a landslide win for the WH, Congress and State posts.
So let' them have it. Why care @ this point? There are so many more things that we can do in other places that would be positive and provide more enjoyment and self-fulfillment than sitting on DU all day watching people sling shit at each other.
Y'all know me. I support all the Dem candidates. I'll happily vote for whomever we put up. I'm seeking people who are for a DEM win @ all cost.

3. All I'm saying is you can't win arguments you avoid. |
|
Therefore, give and take is always the best option. I've felt defeated but I'm still here plugging away.

5. Nah, I'm done. I have 5 dogs of my own, 1 foster dog and 2 cats. |

I work full time, volunteer on the weekend and I have friends that I hang out with who are going to help with volunteering for the Dem party to win in 2k8. That is where the real action is. I come to DU cuz I can get great info to pass on and to help with our discussions. Now all I get is vile. No good arguments, no constructive stuff no good news. Everything is geared towards tearing down Dems instead of republicans. Why come to DU for anti-democratic vile bullshit. I can go to drudge, freak republick and other places for that shit.

I currently have problems with politicians of both parties. I am a democrat however, and because the republican party completely went bad, I want to make the points they are a bad choice. I cannot gloss over those that don't seem democratic in my party however. So I argue points and stay active.

Hillary isn't my first choice but I am getting so tired of the constant bashing. I am all for constructive criticism, but this constant and baseless, sometimes hysterical swift-boating of a Democratic candidate on a Democratic board is just sickening.
Another DUer had "Build up your candidate, don't tear down someone else's" in his/her signature line. I liked that very much.

...I do have to add something I found amusing though...on the listing of latest threads.... I saw this listing right above another that kind of made me chuckle.
"Democratic candidate supporters and well people who just don't like the vile...might I suggest"
"Crack, Heroin, Meth, Cocaine, & Marijuana?"

8. I have mixed feelings. I don't want to settle for just a little bit better, |
|
but I also know I cannot survive another 8 years like the last 6 1/2. We will never make the changes we all want if we cannot even get along with each other. We don't have to become sheep, but we can all be more respectful and kind to each other. Peace!

My problem is my split personality. The dreamer vs. the realist. Boy do they have some lively debates!

13. KnR. Xultar, I am so sick of the hysteria I may join you in taking a long break |
|
I know I keep chiming in, but there are now way too many posts that I don't even bother to read because of the nastiness.
Years ago I was a member of another board -- actually just a listserve -- that used to be a lot of fun. We had arguments, shared our views on our field, and most of us had a connection to the same graduate program. Then came the trolls. Members started dropping like flies, and I was one of the last holdouts.
It would be disastrous if DU goes the same way. We used to be a community that really cared about each other as well as a good source of news not available in the MSM.
I just sent my DUes in (by mail, so doubt if I have my star back yet) but I'm wondering what will be left of our community when the elections are finally over.

the "long break," that is. I hope both of you stick around in the weeks and months ahead. Short breaks are fine, and being selective in what threads one reads and responds to is essential. But, for DU's sake, we need to keep those who add goodness to the discussions and debates. I hope you continue here.
