My wife and I nearly fell on the floor. They played it during NBC's morning show (And not as part of a story. It was a commercial between breaks).

2. And people think KKKarl is gone.
This has the fingerprints of that fat, homely, balding traitor all over it.

He can be, and will be, much more effective out of the spotlight.

10. It works on stupid people
Which pretty much covers Bush's base with a few racist and anti-Muslim groups thrown in, also let's not forget the idiots who still believe that Iraq was behind the 9/11 attacks like the brain dead SOB who lost both his legs.

Yes he's a veteran, but evidently he's also an idiot. As a veteran myself I would give a free pass to other vets, but not any longer, this war of choice has brought the military down and it no longer can provide the protection that this country will need when the time comes.

6. The one with the young guy who's a solider or a vet (I think)?
Yeah, saw it yesterday in the middle of the evening news. I never watch TV news, and never watch commercial television live anymore (I TiVo everything and skip all the "buy-this" malarkey) but I was over my mom's, and PLOP there it was. I couldn't believe it. My 82-year-old mom wasn't buying, either--when the spot ended with the line "This isn't politics", she answered back to the TV, "Oh yeah? Who produced THAT?"

Huzzah, mom! :applause:

15. I think so too!
She used to be completely apolitical, but just like with so many Americans, that all changed once Bush & Co. started trashing the country. She curses the pRez up one side and down the other given half a chance. Mom lived through the Depression and always says that if this isn't exactly the same situation, she doesn't know what is. Even worse, she says that this isn't America anymore, and she's ashamed of what our country's become.

12. About as bad as the National Guard ads that have been playing...
Edited on Thu Aug-23-07 09:09 AM by JHB
...in movie theaters for about a year now.

They include a "we know this is a tough job, we volunteered, we signed up for this", something you'd have never heard in a recruiting ad if it weren't propagandizing against critiques of how * has abused the NG through over-deployment.

18. That's the new Ari Fleischer ad. They played it last night when
Ari was on Hardball. The sit in host even asked Ari about that part. Of course he dribbled some BS answer that didn't asnwer the question!

He said it was a LARGE ad buy that was scheduled to run in areas where Pubs were sitting on the fence on the Iraq war issue, and the intent is to convince the local citizens to help sway THEIR Rep. or Sen. to stay with the Prez on this.

27. They are playing to the base, hoping not to lose congressional
seats that might be up for grabs.

Fleischer wouldn't say where the ads were going to run, only that it was "in more than 20 states." The target audience is those who still support the war. In other words, they're preachin' to the choir.

I suspect the strategy is to keep the 25-percenters revved up, keep them talking, give them some (im)moral support so that the tide in those districts doesn't shift enough to remove vulnerable pukes. I think they're desperately afraid of a catastrophic landslide in 2008, of proportions that not even rigging the voting machines or purging the voter rolls will overturn. They have to keep those vulnerable seats within reach of the fraudsters.

I'm sure the DNC is tracking where these ads are running, but it probably wouldn't hurt if we kept track of the markets here on DU for, well, for our own purposes.

19. The Ari/Freedomswatch thing
Been doing a wee bit of research on them.

Now, why would a 501(c)(4) organization, "dedicated to fighting to protect the ideals and issues that keep America strong and prosperous" hide their contact information behind a WHOIS privacy service?

airing today.

I suggest we call/email NBC and tell them that is a damn lie.

This is disgusting. Would NBC or another major network run ads against the war?

In a pig's ass!
