If you haven't downloaded Google Sky....
do it. It is cool. It comes with the newest version of google earth, and the new layers for google earth are unbelievable. I can't wait to do some more intensive exploring.

I hope google ocean is next. I'd love to go deep sea diving from the computer.

Too cool.

Site with the free download:

1. If you already have google earth, will it update without a lot of tweaking?
Thanks for the quick review of Sky. Know some youngsters who will enjoy exploring.

2. Yeah, just click on the download button and hit "run."
with broadband, doesn't take too long at all. The layers with both earth and sky are fantastic. No tweaking to it.

4. Thanks. I have several computers to tend and already have a busy day ahead
Don't want to bog myself down anymore but sure want to put Sky on! Guess I will try it at home first. I love virtual planetarium programs!

6. What's
without a lot of tweaking ? Would you say it's reasonably idiot proof if you've already got Google Earth. Class me as being an idiot.......lol.

8. LOL I have LOTS of place marks and such on my earth. Wanted to make sure I keep them
It is updated and all my old friends are there... :woohoo:
Also wanted to know if I would have to do anything besides just update before I go and tackle adding Sky to a bank of computers. Just don't have a lot of time this afternoon. Want it fast and easy. It is!

Fly me to the moon, baby.

22. It's all I can manage
to find my own house. I usually land up starting with a landmark like Trafalger Square for example and then following roads I know back to my house which is about 20 miles NW of central London.

7. Now you've done it! All DUers and lurkers must be trying to download
Mine is goin SLOW.

I love to do copy screen and share images with my brother who does not have a fast computer or dsl. I can give him 'tours' of some of the places I have been to. Pretty good detail before the upgrade. Can't wait to be able to show him the sky captures too!

11. Havocdad will be happy to see the big picture of where he almost fell too far!
He will be saddened at how much less glacier there is now though. Much more in his misspent youth!

13. Is there a GoogleMars yet?
Or better yet, GoogleEdAsner, in which you can explore in depth the lush jungle foliage on the fuzzy back of TV's beloved Lou Grant.

23. Am I doing something wrong?
I downloaded it and zoomed to my house....but, the picture showing of my house is over 3 years old because it doesn't show the fence we put in after we moved in....am I doing something wrong? Also, the picture is very blurry and I can't get very close.

24. No, nothing wrong...
you probably live in a rural area where high-resolution pics haven't been shot yet. Go to a city near you, or another large city and take a look. Also, don't forget SKY. In the city where I work, the resolution is much better than before...but, at my home the low res is still the same.

25. Nothing wrong. Pics are NOT real time, but 1-3 years old
Found that out when we first got Google Earth and I asked if I could run out with a flashlight to signal Havocdad in the house, at the computer. He patted my blond head and told me to finish my juice.

27. That's hilarious.
But wouldn't it be cool if you could do that? Of course, my hubby would probably want to "moon" the satellite, so maybe it's good you can't see it real time...lol
