3. I was impressed with the wit
and intellegence of many of the protesters.

I was really fashed after a long hot bike ride, I wish I had been less out of it.
My pix would have been better.

Thank you Alyce.

4. across the street and up a flight of steps.
The police were very helpful, and showed me where the others were gathering.
As you can see, Kansas City is a free speech area.

Considering my adolescent experiences in Chicago 1968 at the DNC riot, it was almost surreal.

6. The cops were nasty to us last September
last time bush was here. I am glad to hear they were better this time.

5. Those are great - thanks!
Did you see my friend's sign comparing bush to Hitler? That was my favorite.

7. I did. It was right on the corner, so everyone else did too
It was interesting how many VFW folks were photographing us.
I really enjoyed photographing them, so I hope they got good pix of us too...

9. Yes I noticed that
People taking pictures of people taking pictures. I watched kmbc's report last night and liked what the black vfw member said about being in the military, that part of it was about protecting the right to gather and to dissent from the government.

OT, Did you get your bike back or is this a new one?

12. That is a new-ish bike, I have had it for a couple years now.
The old one I built from the frameset up is gone for good, I think.

One of the VFW folks asked me if we should just surrender to terrorists.
I asked him how many Iraqis flew into the WTC. Someone asked my buddy Gary if he wanted the terrorists
to follow us back home from Iraq. Gary mentioned something about their fearsome 600 bass-boat Iranian navy crossing the Atlantic.

I do think the simple* majority of the VFW crowd were in agreement with the neocon agenda.
But that would be true of any group of folks who get the closest thing they can
experience to a stiffy from Ann, Rush, or O'Reilly talking tough. Because when Ann Coulter is one's
sex symbol, ya got bigger problems than a crippled up middle aged guy on a bicycle making fun of you.

But by no means all of them were still on board with friendly fascism. I think some of them remember the bill of rights, and how nifty
it was back in the day. The lady who told me that God had told her to bomb Iran really gave me the shudders. It sure didn't take long for the snake handlers to become the driving force behind the republic party, did it?

* here the term 'simple' is used both as a descriptor of the plurality, and the mindset.

10. I heard the VFW attendees were coming by doing thumbs up
or otherwise showing they approved of the signs. :)

It said "War is terrorism with a budget"

Good sign!

11. I feel like the entire city needs to take a long hot shower,
to cleanse itself from the stench of that walking talking obscenity. I am reviled at the thought of him being in the same city I live in...
