"They attacked us first" "Valerie Plame was not covert" and other lies...
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/Former_Bush_aides_begin_prowar_ad_0822.html

If you're a rightwinger you can say anything you want, no matter how obscenely inaccurate, and not have to worry about being called on it by the mainstream media...

Charlie Gibson could ask one of these liars what 2+2 equals and they could answer 26 with people like Gibson not batting so much as an eyelash, as if what these people say goes without saying...

It's just amazing the lies that get thrown out there for public consumption. This current gov't is OUT OF CONTROL.

1. i was thinking about this too...
my parents get forwarded emails full of lies about democratic candidates or other "liberal" people. they never get sent similar emails about rethugs. seems conservatives have no bar as to what they will do to push their agenda. even violating the 10 commandments appears to be just fine.

3. It's easy to get your message out when you own the media.

as opposed to the core "democratic" ideal that is anti-capitalist, the cards are stacked against you from the start.

on edit: the democratic ideal of being anti-capitalist doesn't really address the issue. Even communist China is embracing "capitalism" and in a very real sense the "capitalist side" of China seems to represent American capitalism from the late 1800's, early 1900's where workers have no rights, and the very few are getting rich...

The threat in the United States seen by the rightwing is any movement of the country toward "the left" that benefits "the people" at large...where socialism for wealthy corporations is protected but socialism for the people must be demonized and equated to all things evil ranging from being anti-Christian to being allied with Castro and Chavez (of course forgetting in the process or not pointing out to their ignoramus followers that it's quite alright to deal with the communists in China)

5. Here's the counter-ad:
SETTING:

The "Tom Sawyer whitewashes the fence" scene.

Instead of the novesl's lines, "Tom" quotes assorted Bush officials' misleading crap from before the war (and since).

At first other kids join in readily. As it progresses we see more "this isn't adding up" faces.

Finally, the kids hit the balk point, and "Tom" tries to scold them: "You want us to cut and run?" (and other bush li(n)es)

Whereupon the other kids give him an impromptu "extraordinary rendition" to the schoolmasters switch.
