Preacher Husband attacks evangelist Bynum in parking lot
Juanita Bynum, a preacher whose fiery and frank sermons about women's empowerment have won her a national following, was attacked by her husband in the parking lot of an Atlanta hotel early Wednesday morning, police said.

Bynum, whose ministry is based in Waycross, and her estranged husband, Thomas W. Weeks III, had met up at Renaissance Concourse Hotel near Atlanta's Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport to try to reconcile, Atlanta police said.

a bellman at the hotel pulled Bynum's husband off her, Officer Ronald Campbell said.

"She was bruised up and battered," Campbell said. "She had purple bruising around her neck and upper torso."

The husband, who is also a preacher, left the scene. No charges have been filed against him, according to police.

Watching the God's Warriors specials on CNN this week this is one of those week's I think this world might be better off without religion - at least how it's practiced by these charlatans!

1. I hope she does press charges
It doesn't matter what occpations a husband and wife have, if one assaults the other, that is a crime and should be reported to the authorities, who should see it as a crime and prosecute.

2. domestmic assult should persued by the police like it is here in Michigan
Women no longer have an option of pressing charges in Michigan. If police are call out on a domestic assault, charges are filed by the state.

4. right. if there are signs of an assault, such as bruising, a case can go forward
without the victim's approval or consent. a third-part witness can trigger prosecution, too.

many states cchanged their laws in recent years because victims were so frightened and intimidated that they didn't want to follow through.
now that decision is out of the victim's hands, the abusers know it, too.
they won't be trying to talk their spouse out of sending him to jail, but a cop, who's probably heard all the excuses a hundred times before anyway...

3. I was talking about this story earlier with my sister
It says a lot about why some people say Vick would have been better off beating a spouse than beating a dog. There's no justification for beating on anyone and "Bishop" Weeks should be in jail.

5. and the 'insider' scoop is that she was upset... because...ready?
The insiders all claim that Juanita was upset with her husband's uncomfortably close relationships with a few men in his church.
