Yep, it's time to bring up http://www.strike911.org again.

The buzz around the general strike seems to be dying a little bit, so I thought I'd blow on the coals a bit.

A lot of folks on Kos seem to think that 9/11 is the wrong date for a strike, but y'know what? We have to pick a date sometime, and I'm sick of talking about strikes. I want to join a strike, and this one seems to be the one with the most promise of actually happening.

It's time to move beyond merely sending a message, and see if we can hit the corporate interests that are supporting the war and fascism in this country right in their wallets.

Who's in?

13. Sorry about that, the first thread got buried.
If this thread's too much of a problem, I could kick that one instead.

6. It's a very bad choice of day. 9/11 is important for reasons other
than a strike. A strike on 9/11 is likely to be overlooked. Also, it would be difficult to know whether people were staying home on 9/11 out of respect and love for the people who were killed on that day or out of protest against the abuses of the Bush administration and those in Congress who refuse to stand up to that administration for the American people.

7. A strike on 9/11 is no worse than Bush declaring 9/11 a holiday called Patriot Day.
I think we should use the day for something useful to make some positive changes on behalf of our fellow citizens who died senselesly that day.
Strike. On.

15. Good question.
Looking around on the strike911.org site, I saw a couple events in Seattle and New York City, but I'm hoping something gets organized here in Colorado, and a lot of other places throughout the nation.

10. Are they trying to take away from the rally and boycott on Sept. 12th?

In protest of US immigration policy?

14. There seems to be a whole bunch of activism that week.
There's the march and rally in DC on 9/15, as well.

Personally, I can't make it to DC, but I'll be out rallying back home in Colorado.

come out, that is how disgusting this regime is, they will use this date to further their agenda, and fuck what anyone else thinks, and of course they will invoke this horrific event to continue the bloodshed in Iraq, and continually relate Iraq to 9/11, I can hear it now. Strike away!!!
