First of all let's define "commonly held belief." Does that mean majority opinion? A significant minority? How many people have to believe in White Supremacy before it becomes a problem worth talking about?

Also did Rangel actually do that? Or have you just decided that he has done it? Cause I don't see it. I see him referencing the myth of White Supremacy but I don't see anything indicating how many people still believe in it.

Certainly historically one can say, without fear of contradiction that most White Americans have believed Whites to be superior to other races - the myth of white supremacy is one that we have largely believed in. There is still a significant minority who believes it to this day. To note those two facts is not in my opinion racist.

It would be racist if I or Charlie Rangel said that White People are Racists as a flat statement, I guess.
