1. I wish...but it is looking like that will not happen
"...and that's how the Old Republic of America finally gave up the ghost and passed away, grandchild..."

2. Up Until A Couple Of Weeks Ago, My Answer Would Have Been Yes
I don't think we'll EVER see Al Gore as President unfortunately.

He's too above that role, and we'll be left with the Stale Leftovers like Ms. Clinton instead.

12. We Could End Up With the Ghoul for 8 Years
The Mighty Slime Machine DESTROYS our candidates. We need someone who can go around them.

5. I'd say no.
Granted, this is one occasion where being wrong would thrill me, but I don't believe so. I think he's made it very clear that he has no intentions of running in the next election.

7. I believe "Yes"..here's why..
When September rolls around and we see thousands & thousands march on DC and still no end to the war. When October comes and goes w/o any mention of new energy, or conservation proposals from the Democratic Candidates or in the form of new legislation in Congress. When November 11th passes, and our vets are still being neglected. Come Thanksgiving, when families & friends unite to count their blessings..I believe there will be an announcement from Mr. Gore.

Then again, I'm a devout "Hopeless Romantic"...but, it does sound 'storybook' doesn't it?

14. a few days ago I read that someone had started reading..
The Assault On Reason again..so started doing the same.

This a.m. I came across the part where he wrote that Jefferson didn't want to become President and had to be pushed to take the position, well that started me thinking....."what if..."

I dunno, what he'll do, I believe that if the candidates fail to address the issues that Mr. Gore is so passionate about...and w/ a groundswell of support, he too may begin to feel like Mr. Jefferson did many, many years ago.

11. Wait one minute! I don't think we should be discouraged.
When did we ever think we would announce by August? Everything I've heard or read on the subject of his candidacy hovered around the Nobel Prize....I don't think we should be upset if he hasn't announced yet.

18. In addition to what you said
Unlike in 03/04, when he decided not to run, he made an announcement to the draft Gore sites and asked them to disband.

There are more draft Gore sites now than then and he has yet to say a word to any of them.

It's obvious that the other candidates are not going to campaign on the issues most vital to you, so...

28. He never asked Draft Gore groups to disband
Draft Gore 04 and other groups remained such until they voluntarily ended their efforts the day after he endorsed Howard Dean. That has nothing to do with anything. I believe he has no time to care about other groups because unlike them he is actually out here doing something important for the world.

16. We don't deserve him....
...and though it would heal the nation -- President Gore would serve as a one-man Truth and Reconciliation Commission -- we won't get that chance. Historians in centuries to come will point to 12/12/00, and not 9/11/01, as the biggest body blow the Republic took in this decade.

Moral theology with the Jesuits taught me that restitution for theft requires the return of the thing stolen, and not a substitute, to the person it was stolen from, and not a surrogate.

21. Voted 'yes,' but I honestly have no idea. I think for Al Gore it's a 51-49
proposition in favor on Wednesday, shifting to 51-49 against on Thursday. The rest of the week it's an even 50-50.

A strong case can be made for him to do what he thinks is best. He's contributed enormously to the international dialogue on the environment already. He doesn't owe us another minute of service.

If he chooses to run for the White House, his third and last time, I think he'll make it count. You're going to see a very muscualr Al Gore with a crack staff and some serious preparation. I believe the chance that he'd ask Joe Lieberman to be his running mate this time carries the same odds of Alan Keyes winning the nomination for the Pukes.

If he chooses to jump in, Gore is going to make this one count. It will be a campaign in italics.

23. It's amazing how Clinton stays ahead of literally every poll, when literally everybody hates her!

Those media outlets, acting in coordinated tandem sure are doing a great job of stuffing the polls since NOBODY likes Clinton!
