I am a single-issue voter this election cycle. |
|
I am PRO-PEACE and I VOTE. (Taking a lesson from my Republican PRO-LIFE neighbors.)
I want to hear a cogent, well considered plan for disabling the war machine in Iraq with all due haste. If your candidate doesn't have the single-minded intention to end this war, I'm not likely to vote for your candidate. Period.
This madness MUST end.

My issue is Bill of Rights and privacy. Which candidate will promise to repeal the FISA laws? Which candidate will promise to truly defend the Constitution and the Bill of Rights?

It's a darn shame that people are so hung up on the lesser issues. Not that they are not terribly important,it's just that they pale in comparison to our rights and freedoms. What good is taking a stand on an issue, while our freedoms are stripped away? For me it's the Patriot Act..Real ID Act...Fisa...the new passport rules....

I would think that you would be more concerned by the two million Americans in prison and the wholesale destruction of personal privacy wrought by the War On Drugs..
I mean they look inside your fuckin' bloodstream for bog's sake..
Just sayin'

But the assault on our liberties is far more important. At least to me it is.There could be a time where anyone voicing their opinion on a topic such as this could be thrown in prison with the other non violent "offenders",and we could all look back and say we were more interested in gun control than the repeal of the Patriot Act.

we actually have a shot at getting an anti-Iraq War candidate. There still aren't any frontrunners with the courage to question the Drug War madness.

4. Don't hold your breath. |
|
If you intend to vote Democratic, you'd better pray for the full-blown miracle that gets Kucinich elected. Even at that, it will take months.
The draw-down of troops begins in earnest in 12 months. The Dems need to be smiling broadly and endorsing it, or the GOP will take full credit.

20. My primary ballot is meaningless. |
|
I marked my ballot for John Edwards in '04. However, it was a symbolic gesture, as Kerry had been declared the Official Democratic Nominee. Even so, Rep. Kucinich will have my primary vote. He is my choice for '08 thus far, but it literally, does not count, electorally speaking.

23. your primary vote is never meaningless |
|
I voted for Kucinich in '04 in MAY, when our primary was held. I did it to vote my conscience-and to test to make sure my vote really counted. Our local paper tallies the votes in the various precincts--if none had come up for Kucinich, I would have complained to the County Clerk, as I had a pretty good idea exactly how many votes he would get. (I have done this before, when I lived in Illinois-in 1980 they tried touch screen voting, and I found that my vote hadn't counted-my complaint got them to get rid of the touch screens at that time.)

7. It's a good thing the abolitionists were not single issue voters in 1860 |
|
Lincoln was anything but an abolitionist, and would have been willing to let slavery alone if it had saved the union. Nor was he a big fan of racial equality. In any event, abolitionists made the practicable choice that year.

...are my top priorities. They are 100 percent deal breakers-- any candidate who wants my vote must be planning immediate troop withdrawal and major changes in U.S. foreign policy.

17. I'm not single issue, by any means, but that is the one issue I |
|
will not compromise on.
I would love to have to decide between pro-peace candidates. And I don't mean peace in a year. I don't mean pull out the combat troops while leaving 50,000 'security' troops (and their associated mercenaries) behind.
I saw a headline saying one of the GOPers wants us out by the end of the year. If THEY say we can do it, why can't WE say we can do it?

Whoever that may be.
(Unless, of course, we eat our own in the process :( and there is no viable candidate left standing because we provided *them* with all the ammunition they would ever need.
What anti-Democratic-candidate meme did you start today?
