Woman sells chewed-up Vick cards in eBay auction

The Associated Press

The value of chewed-up and slobbered-on Michael Vick football cards seem to be going up.

Or at least that’s what Rochelle Steffen, 31, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., has discovered after her disgust for the investigation into dogfighting on Vick’s property caused her to toss a collection of the Atlanta Falcons quarterback’s trading cards to the hounds.

Steffen, who has amassed a collection of nearly 50,000 trading cards, let her two dogs chew up 22 Vick cards and is now selling the remains on eBay with plans to donate the winning bid money to the humane society of the bidder’s choice.

As of this afternoon, the highest bid had rose to $405 and more than 2,000 people had viewed the posting. Seventy-three people have already bid on the auction, which ends Sunday.

3. Check out what the Atlanta Humane Society is doing
Vick Jerseys Being Used To Clean Kennels

ATLANTA -- The Atlanta Humane Society said they are receiving donations from across the country -- and you’ll never guess what people are sending.

More than a dozen Michael Vick jerseys have been sent to AHS, and they are putting them to good use.

“When I first saw them, I was kind of shocked. I was like, ‘Why do they have Vick jerseys here,’ said Julie Sentner.

<snip>

So what are volunteers doing with the jerseys?

“We discovered like any donation we get, any shirt or towel, we put it to good use here at Atlanta Humane Society. We’re always using things to clean kennels, use for bedding and stuff like that,” said Smith.

Did she say cleaning kennels?
