Clark at YearlyKos:

We need your help. We need you to hammer on the theme of the strategy and the policies. Stop Isolating people we disagree with. Start engaging. Come out with some real American leadership instead of simply leading by sending men and women in uniform into combat.

(applause)

I think what we ought to do about Iraq is pull two brigades back by Christmas, because I think the Army's overcommitted.

(applause)

But i think what we really need is we need the United States Congress and the American people to stand up and be counted, and say, 'Mr. President, the problem in Iraq is NOT troops strength, it is NOT the surge, it is NOT how good our men and women in uniform is, it is the FAILURE of YOUR leadership in the region!'

Warner today:

Sen. John Warner said Thursday President Bush should start bringing home some troops by Christmas to show the Baghdad government that the U.S. commitment in Iraq is not open-ended.

The departure of even a small number of U.S. service members — perhaps 5,000 out of the 160,000 troops in Iraq — would send a powerful message throughout the region that time was running out, he said.

“We simply cannot as a nation stand and continue to put our troops at continuous risk of loss of life and limb without beginning to take some decisive action,” he told reporters after a White House meeting with Bush’s top aides.

Brigade: The brigade provides mobility, counter-mobility and survivability, topographic engineering and general engineering support to the largest unit - the corps — and augments the corps’ various divisions. The brigade may contain combat engineer battalions, separate engineer companies, assault float bridges, and topographic and tactical bridge companies. It contains around 2,500 people commanded by a colonel.
