Wingnut Righties dissed the United Nations |
|
War in Bosnia: U.S. Forces under U.N. command with U.S. commander, conducts a successful, brief mission in a dangerous area of conflict. No U.S. deaths. Mission accomplished under U.N. coalition.
War in Iraq: Neocons flip off the U.N. Wingnuts refuse to take the word on U.N. inspectors on the ground in Iraq concerning WMDs. Bush/Cheney put together a "Coalition of the Stupid" to invade a sovereign nation. No end in sight to a slaughter in slobber-knocking Mideast civil war style. Many of the Coalitions of the Stupid have pulled out, leaving the American forces as literal hostages in a Bush legacy duel with the Congress. 3700 American dead, number of Iraqi dead unknown.
My own respect for the United Nations has never been higher.

4. Rightwing problems with the UN are hard to understand |
|
The ones I talk to have this fear of "one world government" - the UN does not try to do that.
The only answer I can think of is that their egos depend on living in the "strongest nation in the world" and they are afraid the UN will undermine that somehow.
