Top general to urge Iraq troop cut

(EPA)
Administration and military officials say Marine Gen. Peter Pace is likely to convey concerns that keeping a force well in excess of 100,000 troops in Iraq through 2008 would severely strain the military.
Advice by the chairman of the Joint Chiefs poses a potential clash with supporters of the buildup.
By Julian E. Barnes and Peter Spiegel, Los Angeles Times Staff Writers
August 24, 2007
WASHINGTON -- The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff is expected to advise President Bush to reduce the U.S. force in Iraq next year by almost half, potentially creating a rift with top White House officials and other military commanders over the course of the war.

Administration and military officials say Marine Gen. Peter Pace is likely to convey concerns by the Joint Chiefs that keeping well in excess of 100,000 troops in Iraq through 2008 will severely strain the military. This assessment could collide with one being prepared by the U.S. commander in Iraq, Army Gen. David H. Petraeus, calling for the U.S. to maintain higher troop levels for 2008 and beyond.

5. that would be his arrogant response too.
and since they now have propaganda commericals promoting war, the dead count will keep on coming, disgusting and shameful, murdering our troops for oil.

13. I hate George Bush....
...I really have never hated anyone like I hate him. Every time I see a flag drapped coffin of another U.S. Soldier or the picture of another dead or wounded Iraqi who "just got in the way," I just feel waves of anger over the arrogance this POS has demonstrated...for his entire worthless, lying life.

...IMO it would be hard to photoshop an entire video this well. It is for real as far as I know...but someone on DU may know differently.

4. Peter Pace is an asshole too.
He supported the chimp in every endeavor. Apparently he has had a crisis in conscience and wants to cleanse his soul now that he is walking out the door. Fuck you Pace, you gutless POS. At least you found a tiny bit of moral courage at the very end. Where were you five years ago? Cheerleading the neocon agenda, fucker.

7. OR! Perhaps Pace wants troops available for the Iran attack....
1. Because he knows it's coming.

2. Because it's really all part of the plan, so right now is the time to get the media telling the story that Pace wants those troops out of Iraq.

8. Well, in his defense (1) look who he had to deal with - an
impenetrable idiot who said he will stick with his vision as long as his fucking dog agrees with him, and (2) what's a military guy to do? Asshat's the "commander in chief" (on paper anyway) isn't it at the very core of the military code and belief system to follow the cic's lead - there probably isn't a clause for "unless he's an idiot". The military has only congress to protect them (i.e. boot out the idiot)

14. Interesting. I had a similar theory a while back when some of
the Iraqi parliment voted to have us out. (Asshat's way out - since he kept saying over and over - "We will stay as long as the Iraqi's want us there" But, I was wrong.

I am thoroughly and utterly convinced he doesn't care what ANYONE says - he's staying no matter what. Criminal.
