Playboy made a trip to our school to shoot the "Girls of the Big 8" issue. I covered
this as a reporter. Playboy allowed me to interview the girls in a lounge, where they
waited to be photographed for their "test shots".

I've never before seen such an endless parade of fluffy-bunny-air-heads in my life.
There are a lot of them out there. More than I realized!

It doesn't surprise me--at all--that the "response has been overwhelming".

For every guy who enjoys objectifying women, there are women willing
to degrade themselves and be the object.

That's what I learned from my Playboy experience, anyway.

13. I try to avoid generalizing too broadly

there are plenty of airheads of both sexes, and plenty of people who will degrade themselves for money - just look at most of the "reality" TV.

There ARE women who make money displaying their beauty who I don't think are degrading themselves one bit. And that probably includes some who pose for Playboy (haven't had the pleasure of actually meeting any, so I can only surmise). If ya got it, flaunt it! And when I admire them, I don't think I am "objectifying" them any more than if I admire a beautiful landscape. I don't think "I want to bed her", but, rather, just admire.

That is the unfortunate lot in life of beautiful women and those non-letches who admire them. How to distinguish "looking" from "leering." I sometimes find myself feeling paranoid, staring at the ceiling in an elevator, lest the woman I am sharing it with think I am ogling. And then I have to ask myself, why DID she put on the makeup, select that very flattering outfit, etc? Am I not EXPECTED to look? Am I insulting her by NOT looking? Then I figure she probably caught me peeking so we're probably cool. :)

p.s. I call "bullshit" on the owner's insistence that he has been "deluged" with interest for the positions that have opened up. If every last one of the women who quit his business didn't have jobs by the end of business yesterday, I'd be shocked. There is so much coffee sold here daily (and so many businesses depending on that revenue,) that good baristas can probably find work very quickly.

I think Mr. Owner is going to have a very tough time finding new employees, especially after the publicity.

There are women who enjoy showing off their bodies at work, and find it profitable. Somehow I doubt those women would be flocking to work at a roadside coffee stand. Being a cocktail waitress would bring in bigger tips, or even being a waitress at Hooters, so why would they bother trying to bring some sizzle in the tip jar at a coffee stand?
