There Certainly Are Going To Be Some Surprised Faces When Keith Hits The Airways Sunday Night |
|
Edited on Fri Aug-24-07 07:24 PM by ThomWV
I would like to be a fly on the wall of many a redneck household when in anticipation of one of those incessant football game lead ups they meet up with Keith Olbermann for the first time. It will be particularly interesting in homes that now think Public Broadcasting is the height of left-wing evil - that notoriously liberal media. Boy, are they in for an eyeopener!

5. While it's possible I don't think it's probable... |
|
Look, let's take some small steps please. We don't want to be beating them over the head with a baseball bat right out of the box (although that's not exactly a bad idea).
When KO gets to the "worst person" segment, we may lose a couple of thousand proud 'mericans when their hearts explode while they are seated in their La-Z Boys.
I hoping for a BILL-O trifecta.
That would rule.

That's all. Their positions are cast in stone. They won't change.

7. Undoubtedly true, but in some cases they will be hearing it live for the first time |
|
Remember, much of the country is convinced that what they see on CBS or NBC is the liberal media. Many of them have never actually heard a liberal commentator - and that is where the fun comes in. They think they are seeing it now, wait until Sunday.

20. You're right. I was being very cynical. |
|
Some will change. There is no singular type of conservative, just like liberals. We're an array of beings.
To be honest, I am more positive about the future than it appears. But that's a book.
I'm really excited to see people waking up. AFter all, could it really get much darker? Faux can only lie for so long. But that's also a book. As in, once people forget, the lying becomes effective again. I think. Maybe not, if we drop into a dark enough place. I just don't want that to happen.
Hm, what were we talking about... :)

Hoping for a special comment too.
Go Keith, keep on telling it like it is. Make their heads explode.
Thanks for the reminder. Alyce

19. Because it doesn't make much sense |

You've got your yee-hah on, a 12-pack of Bud or Coors in the fridge and the pizza's been ordered. You're ready for some football — and then some commie lib'rul's on instead. You're not gonna flip to ESPN or something?
That's assuming you didn't check the teevee listings first and find out there's no big pre-game orgasm.
Yeah, some people would still watch — the type who like to yell at the teevee. But I'd wager they'd be in the minority.

16. That's an excellent idea! There was a guy who volunteered in the '04 campaign... |

...around here, a real sports fan, who'd cover himself in his Kerry/Edwards gear every Sunday and take up a table in a local sports bar to watch the game and talk politics. Converted a lot of folks to the Dems, he did. Called himself "Packer Backer Bob."

I'm just thinking of all those people who think "safe" thoughts all the time and always entertain conceited notions. They are afraid to think outside of the box because they might become communists. Keith will probably frighten a few people. And I am going to love seeing right-wingers respond to his future success on NBC.

... We'll see how politically provocative he is, though.
