Dean: ""Stay the course was not a plan for Vietnam, and it's still not a plan for Iraq."
I guess this statement got no notice cause Florida's too busy threatening lawsuits against the party and grabbing attention.

Howard Dean: Stay the Course Is Still Not a Plan For Iraq

August 22, 2007 -- On the same day that a White House front-group began issuing ads on Iraq in a desperate attempt to hold onto support from its own party, President Bush made a speech at the Veterans of Foreign Wars National Convention in Kansas City, Missouri, in which he continued to sell his failed war of choice in Iraq. Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean issued the following statement in response to President Bush's remarks:

"President Bush and his Republican friends are clearly desperate. While they previously disavowed any comparisons to Vietnam, today President Bush is grasping at straws, using the Vietnam war as justification for his failed stay the course strategy in Iraq. The parallels between Iraq and Vietnam are indeed striking, but President Bush needs to re-examine the lessons of history. In both instances brave troops are sent abroad to fight by an Administration that refused to listen to the advice of military leaders. In both instances the Administration decides it is ok to conceal information from the Congress and the American people. Promises like 'stay the course' 'Peace is at Hand' or 'the insurgency is in its last throes' are made by an increasingly desperate Administration," said Dean.

"Stay the course was not a plan for Vietnam, and it's still not a plan for Iraq. President Bush's war of choice in Iraq is making America less safe, giving Al Qaeda a chance to rebuild. How many more American troops will President Bush put in harms way for his failed policy? Our brave men and women in uniform have done their jobs valiantly but cannot on their own find the political progress needed in Iraq to sustain peace. It's time for Iraqi leadership to work together to address the political problems Iraq faces. It is long past time for President Bush and his Republican allies to come to terms with the situation on the ground in Iraq, listen to the will of the American people, and start bringing our troops home."

"But, but, but... It never was about Staying The Course" - Commander AWOL

You read it here first. (Easy to predict...)

And BTW, Kudos to good Dr. Dean. How we wish every Democratic rep. & sen. would be like him (i.e. have a spine...).

3. I love this man. It's a shame we aren't working on his reelection right now.

4. it's also a shame we're not working on this guy's reelection:
John Kerry: "Invoking the tragedy of Vietnam to defend the failed policy in Iraq is as irresponsible as it is ignorant of the realities of both of those wars," Senator Kerry said. "Half of the soldiers whose names are on the Vietnam Memorial Wall died after the politicians knew our strategy would not work. The lesson is to change the strategy not just to change the rhetoric.
