11 Hurt As People Jump From Burning Hot Air Balloon

Emergency crews were trying to find two people who remained unaccounted for Saturday, a day after a hot air balloon crashed in a mobile home park in Surrey, B.C., injuring 11 people.

After the injured were taken to Vancouver-area hospitals, officials said they were still looking for two passengers who had been on the balloon, a woman and her adult daughter.

The cause of Friday evening's accident is not yet known, police said. The balloon departed from a grassy field with 12 passengers and the pilot in clear weather.

The balloon's basket burst into flames shortly after it left the ground at dusk, officials said. Witnesses said it looked like a giant fireball as it later plunged into the Hazelmere RV Park near the U.S. border, destroying three mobile homes and two cars.

1. Twelve passengers in a Hot Air Balloon? The thing must have been huge!

I know some Hot Air Balloons are big but i don't think i have ever read about one that could carry 12 adults in the basket.

That had to have been one big-ass balloon.

2. I said the same thing on another thread about this same accident.

The ones I know about can carry usually about 3 people comfortably. That gondola and the balloon must have been HUGE to carry that many people.
