The uphill battle for health insurance
It isn't as simple as finding a job anymore. I've been paying $326/month for COBRA coverage and about $100/month over that for my prescriptions- which would be $1000 out of pocket. The job used to take out about $50/month.

Now that I've been at my new job as a contractor for a month, I am eligible to enroll for health insurance and I have a choice of 3 plans. They cost $22/week, or $37/week, or $95/week. Only the expensive one gives decent prescription coverage and the other two are a joke. They cover only a certain number of prescriptions per year. You might as well pay for them out of pocket. Guess what, the contract agency hardly pays anything. My COBRA costs less, and so do independent plans that I could find by shopping around.

Anyone know of a good health insurance plan- especially for someone who mainly needs it for prescriptions?

4. This may not be a popular solution at DU -
- but, depending upon your particular prescriptions, Walmart offers about 300 different drugs at $4. per fill or refill. Using Walmart for your Rx's might allow you to opt for the health coverage that has lesser Rx coverage but with lesser weekly premium. A list of the drugs at that price can be found here > http://www.walmart.com/catalog/catalog.gsp?cat=546834&fromPageCatId=5431
