Declaration
Edited on Sat Aug-25-07 03:36 PM by Mythsaje
We're hearing cries for "unity" and "an end to partisan bickering."

"Bickering" can be defined as "pointless" arguments with no purpose behind them. The American Heritage Dictionary defines it as "A petty quarrel; a squabble."

Oh, we're not bickering. In fact, it's offensive that anyone would suggest such a thing.

We're in a fight for the future of all of us. Not just Americans, but the whole human race. This isn't between some school kids calling each other names just to prove how tough they are. This isn't a sitcom marriage. It's a VERY serious disagreement about the rights and responsibilities of us, as U.S. citizens, as men and women, as human beings.

Anyone who calls it a mere "squabble" doesn't take it seriously enough. Not by a long shot.

We'll make peace with the Republicans. On OUR terms. As soon as they surrender their racist, sexist, homophobic, holier than thou certainty that THEY are right and WE are wrong. As soon as they apologize for calling us traitors, or allowing others who claim to represent them to do it. As soon as they apologize for branding people like Natalie Maines, Dick Durbin, Tom Dashle, and others as "traitors" or "terrorist sympathizers" for disagreeing with President George W. Bush on the way to handle the so-called "War On Terror."

We'll bury the hatchet as soon as they repudiate the self-centered, self-aggrandizing, and inflexible "conservative" notion of "voodoo economics." As soon as they recognize that not everyone in America gets an even shot at success, and as soon as they join us in fighting to change that. As soon as they step up to defend the middle class, and the helping hand the middle class extends downward to those in need. As soon as they realize that the ultra-rich shouldn't be able to decide for the rest of us what our priorities should be.

We'll shake hands with the Republicans as soon as they admit that their religion, and their religious book, should NOT be the answer to all arguments about the nature of the cosmos, the history of the human race, and whether gays have the right to live in peace. We wouldn't put up with the Taliban here in the United States, and we will NOT put up with similar inflexibility from them either.

We'll kiss and make up when they recognize that we have a duty to this planet, to all the other forms of life that live here, and that we are both responsible for the damage we've caused and for striving to fix as much of it as we can. When they roll up their sleeves and stand beside us, working to make this world a better place again. When they too decide that the long-term fate of their children and grandchildren are more important than short-term profits.

We'll play nice as soon as they stop insulting us, insulting our intelligence, treating us like second-class citizens, and tell people like Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, Sean Hannity, and their ilk that they DO NOT speak for them. As soon as they make it clear they DON'T want us jailed, or killed, for the crime of disagreeing with them or the Bush administration. As soon as they stand up and say to their representatives that they respect the Constitution and don't respect anyone who refuses to abide by it.

We'll work for "unity" as soon as they repudiate all the evil that has been done in their names--as soon as they call for justice for those who've been ignored in Katrina's aftermath, those who've been sent off to war to die for a lie, those who've been turned out on the street because we have other priorities than protecting the most vulnerable among us.

Until then...

No quarter given, no quarter asked.

It's on.

4. Preach on Mythsage
You are absolutely right. I don't consider myself to be a partisan person, in fact I am an independent. I despise the two party system in general, and have decided that I will never again declare my loyalty to any one political party. Despite my refusal to commit myself to any one party however, I will do every thing I can to bring down the Republican Party because the Republican Party represents everything that is wrong with politics. I am willing to work with Democrats, Greens, Independents, and people who belong to other third parties but I am not willing to work with Republicans for the same reason that I am not willing to work with the mafia. If they want me to work with them, well then they better do a complete 180 on pretty much everything they stand for because as it is now they are wrong on everything.

5. Take action.
Do you want to destroy the hold that corporations have over congress and the president? Simple. Organize and Demand progressive legislation from some of these corporations and do not buy from them until they get the GOP to get congress to enact this legislation.

If you want to put an end to the Republiklan party, then

Send this letter to the Republican party now! Also put this on your web page so others can see it.

Copy and paste the letter below and email it directly to info@gop.com the Republican Party and get 2 friends to send this letter and have those 2 friends get 2 friends to send it and so on. Thank you. Drop me a message to info@dmocrats.org with the subject Done after you have sent the email.

Hello

Get your Republican party to end the war in Iraq, with Bush and Cheney resigning, and until you do we stop buying televisions, refrigerators, stoves, ovens, dishwashers, dvd players, stereo equipment, light bulbs from one of your party's major contributors and War contractors General Electric Corporation ( 203 373 2211 ) who cannot afford to lose a large sector of the publics business and money.

Get your Republican party to remove the FICA taxable income cap and tax all of a person's income for social security purposes and enact HR 676 Single payer universal health care into law and repeal Medicare Part D and place the prescription drug benefit in Medicare Part B covering 80 percent of all medication with no extra premiums, no extra deductibles, no means tests, no coverage gaps, and completely remove the means test to Medicare Part B and until you do, we will not buy consumer products and prescription drugs from one of the biggest pharmacy chains and GOP contributors in the country, Rite Aid, who cannot afford to lose a large sector of the publics business and money.

Get your Republican party to enact a $10 an hour minimum wage, and until you do, we will not go to the following restaurants and GOP contributors Wendy's, Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and Dominos Pizza who cannot afford to lose a large sector of the publics business and money.

Get your Republican party to enact into law Universal vote by mail with paper ballots counted by civil servants with civil servants registering voters and keeping track of registrations, and until you do, we will not buy any GOP contributor Dell computers or monitors or go to the following restaurants and GOP contributors Wendy's, Outback Steakhouse, Olive Garden, Red Lobster, and Dominos Pizza who cannot afford to lose a large sector of the publics business and money.

Get your Republican party to get congress to pass and enact a law legalizing abortions from conception to six months, and to nine months when the life of the mother appears threatened, and until you do we stop doing business with two of your biggest contributors Dominos Pizza and Curves for Women Health Clubs.

Signed,

7. I feel the same way....
about the Right Wing of the Democratic Party.

The Democratic Party is a BIG TENT, but there is NO ROOM for those
who advance the agenda of THE RICH (Corporate Owners) at the EXPENSE of LABOR and the POOR.

8. I'll go further
There will be no "Kissing and making up" or "Meeting in the middle." They moved the middle so far right that it takes days of walking to get from where the middle should be to where it claims to reside now.

There will be no reconciliation, because there is no reason for us to do so. They have acted in a criminal manner, and continue to do so. They have to start behaving themselves, or we throw them in jail. In fact, as things stand, they should just be going to jail and we should be having clean elections to replace them.

"Bipartisanship"? That would require us to do what they want us to, and that would involve breaking the law. Do we support breaking the law?

It's time to drop the polite fiction that most of the GOP has any legal right to the seats they currently hold, either because they were not elected, have be in violation of federal laws, or both.

9. Roger THAT!
Maybe this seems off topic, but the moral is you don't always HAVE to negotiate.

Many years ago I had to move and put my house up for sale. I named an asking price, which the RE agent said was "too high" because it was more than x% greater than what I had paid 14 months earlier. I said, no, that is what expect, based on the market today. So she listed it, complaining the whole time. I got an offer for 5K less than asking price the same day. She said I should "counter" with 2K less, then they would offer 2500 less, and I should take that.
I said, no, it is the first freaking DAY! I should counter with MORE than asking price. So she called and said "no" and they came back with asking price.

If you say the earth is a sphere (almost) and someone else says it is flat, don't compromise and say it is a football, or a frisbee.

And when THEY make ludicrous demands, you don't meet them half way.

This is a war. They are trying to destroy the basic foundation of our government. It is not "squabbling" to object. Just ask Neville Chamberlain about trying to "get along" with tyrants.

15. Impeach Our Way To Unity
The Impeachophobes jibber-jabber on about how doing what they know is right would be "so divisive."

But what exactly is wrong with dividing those who respect and defend the US Constitution from those who treat like just another inconvenient piece of (toilet) paper?

The only mystery about the "impeachment divide" is whether it will be 65%(pro) to 35%(whine) or 75-25.

Only Impeachment ... can unify us around our core principles.

It IS our positive agenda.

It is our ONLY moral, patriotic, (and legal, legislative, electoral, diplomatic...) option.

Get on with it.
