What have the Democrats learned after first assuming the majority in both the Senate ...
and the House?

What can we expect after the lawmakers return to Washington after being verbally blasted by their constituents?

Hopefully, we will see a lot more effective legislating.

The first round was highly disappointing.

1. Nothing...
not a freakin' thing. They've had a chance to change the rules of the game to turn the process in a way that would govern of, by, and for the people. They tweaked the same old rules and continue to play the game laid out by the Republics.

7. If the only had a larger marjority in the senate to even GET some bills to the floor.
I think Reid should make the announcement over and over. Remember republicans how you are obstructing bills that the public needs. And if you ever get the majority back we will do the same to your bills that HURT the public interest.

8. What have you learned?
Hopefully, that would be that a simple majority is not enough to do very much. Without a two thirds majority, you cannot override vetoes, and impeachment is not possible, making it tough. We have seen that the republicans, despite losing the majority and facing an even smaller contingency to attrition in the coming elections, have not heeded the will of the American people.

Our job is not over until we have enough of a majority to overthrow the cabal that has taken over our government and raped our country.
Even then, we have to attack those forces that continue to try to influence decisions by pumping monies into congressional pockets, ie lobbyists, and those who accept and concede to these forces.

What we need, simply, is a government by the people, for the people, a concept that has somehow been squashed by big money in recent years. National healthcare, taking the greed away from the insurance companies, reform insuring our youth the education and opportunity they deserve, and a more equitable and fair taxation program that narrows the equality gap instead of widening it. We need extensive infrastructure repair and we need to feed OUR hungry citizens before feeding the rest of the world.

Let's start by instilling a balanced trade policy with the rest of the world, no more outrageous deficits. Bring those manufacturing jobs back to America and revive the middle class, the ones who built and made this country great. Keep the damn money here and don't let the greedy get richer by hiding it in off-shore banks or foreign investment.

We've spiralled downhill since the Reagan years at an alarming rate.
We have to make America great again. Not in terms of a world super-power, but in terms of a great place to live and flourish. A place that is known as fair, humane, and opportunistic.

11. Education is vitally important so something like this never happens again.

It has boiled down to logic and decency versus moronic behaviour.

12. They have learned that they...
do NOT have a majority in the Senate at the moment, and that a slim majority in the House won't be able to satisfy the needs of the whining masses howling that it's impeachment or nothing.

They have learned that it is impossible for a slim majority to impose its will on the President, just as every other Congress has lezrned.

They have also learned that it's possible to begin to legislate sensibly and turn the country back to sanity, but some people will still not be satisfied.

13. The majority in the Senate was razor thin, and included LIEberman.
Dem introduced legislation, Repub introduced talking points and lame parliamentary challenges.

14. If they refuse to pass any more funding bills, and maybe begin impeachment proceedings...
...then they learned their lesson.
