Oh God, please stop this insanity!! DUers, time to TAKE A STAND!!
Tuesday is National Take a Stand Day. Call your representatives, stand on a corner holding a sign, join a rally in your community. It's time to get up and move away from your computer and DO SOMETHING to end the war on Iraq!!

In case you haven't heard, the BetrayUs report will be coming out on September 11. So our pResident is still clinging to 9/11 to justify the murder of hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and 3728 of our soldiers.

Read this article and send it out to everyone on your list. If this doesn't explain why this madness needs to stop, I don't know what to tell you. A man has only one limb left after his service in Iraq.

"The best way to support disabled veterans is to STOP MAKING THEM!"

- Cindy Sheehan

Infantryman's latest battle is grueling rehab, but Olathe triple amputee counts blessings
By DAVID KLEPPER
The Kansas City Star

SAN ANTONIO | Sgt. Matt Lammers — husband, father, triple amputee — is nobody special here. Just another soldier who accepted the risks of war in service to his country.

Or maybe it’s just that here at Brooke Army Medical Center, they’re all special.

Say the word “hero,” and the Olathe man’s eyes narrow. Lammers doesn’t want praise. He doesn’t want pity. He’d rather talk about the buddies he left behind.

“It’s reality, and you have to accept it,” he says of his injuries. “What keeps you going is the man next to you. I’m an infantryman, so that means you have to depend on the men with you.”

Lammers lost both legs and his left arm June 9 when his Humvee hit a buried explosive in Baghdad. Comrades saved his life, and now he’ll lean on other comrades as he begins at least a year of rehabilitation at the Center for the Intrepid, a gleaming, glass-and-metal center that opened this year to treat grievously injured soldiers.

41. Proud to fight for this country...Not be misled by our Government
There's no honor in being "forced" to fight and die or be wounded if we are just being used for political reasons or as a means to make profit or steal the resources of another country. At such times the only honor comes from trying to keep yourself and your friends from being killed by whoever is trying to kill you. At such times the true honor is in protecting your fellow soldiers. This is exactly what the Democrats and DUers are trying to do by trying to stop this occupation...protect our soldiers from being "forced" to fight and die policing or refereeing a civil war. That is the real meaning behind "supporting the troops"...protecting them from a failed policy. A soldier in this Iraq fiasco has a right to be outraged at being used, at sacrificing what didn't need to be sacrificed, at being held hostage by Bush and Cheney as blackmail to get the funding needed to pay off the war profiteers who have made a fortune off your sacrifices, yet refuse to even significantly raise your pay or increase your health care benefits.

Yes..stop making disabled vets...by getting rid of the liars who made them in the first place. They are planning to make many more. They are guilty of mass murder and plan to continue the mass murder...their jobs depend on it.
Our military is proud to defend other military members to keep them from being killed. They are proud to serve our country and protect it's citizens. But they are not proud when they feel they are being misused, doing jobs that a private contractor gets paid 5-10X what the get paid to do the same job, to be forced to stand in the middle of a circle being fired upon by all sides because their political leaders threw them in the middle of a civil war. They trusted the commander in chief would "protect" them and not sacrifice them needlessly, not betray them and make them charge like Custer right into an ambush known as a civil war.

They should be proud that the country is trying to get them out of there, that we will force Bush to withdraw them, to protect them again before more are forced to die. And we are doing everything we know to do to accomplish this mission. They should be proud to know that we care enough to do anything to protect them.

7. Are you suggesting that DUers haven't
taken a stand? Let me suggest that the vast majority have, and are in full agreement with you about the horror of this war. We've marched, contacted our reps, written letters, held benefits. I don't know what else to do.

But if you don't want the war to end, then maybe you should stop kicking my thread?

To hell with that Sheehan character - Johnny-come-lately, huh?

Do send us pictures of your group outside of Crawford in a ditch in 100 degree weather, won't you?

We'd all so love to see them.

Did you have lunch afterwards, or was it drinks and dinner?

38. If you want pictures of protests I've attended, see the Minnesota forum.
If Casey had returned alive we may not know Cindy Sheehan, this according to Cindy, not me.

However, surely the "independent progressive" groups are thriving as of late, so why come to Democratic groups to disrupt? Aren't you all content with one another and your collectively enlightened state?

40. It has and will continue to make all the difference we can make.
It's never seems like enough until the policy changes...then we say we did it! But until then we don't think what we are doing is working but it is. Thank you for your efforts and congratulations on doing a good job as a citizen.

25. September is going to be awesome
There is a major march every Saturday, lots of lobbying and rallies all over the country. I have a couple friends who are going to DC for the whole month. Since I have a job and can't do that, I am trying to do as much here as we can plan.

We just have to all jump on this anti-war wagon and drive the point to Congress. If there is no rally nearby, I hope that people at least call their reps on Tuesday.

I found one about 20 miles away. So far, 9 people are committed. If it lasts long enough for me to get there, I'll go. I have grandson duty that night, and have to pick him up from a swimming lesson before we can go.

. . . I'm ready for a good protest, but can't we get it together? I fear with so many so close together, we're dissipating our force . . . and frankly, none of the ones in my state seem the least bit organized . . .

42. I wasn't asking as an idle question.
I have participated in protests since before the war began and organized one when no one else was stepping up. I have a blog and would like to solicit folks to come out. But I am genuinely concerned that if I describe several different protests within days of each other, either no one will turn out for any of them, or just a couple of folks will come out for each one, and my experience is that a lot of people find that discouraging. Not to mention that a handful of protesters is darned easy to ignore.

I'm just wishing we could organize better to maximize impact.

35. SUPPORT THE TROOPS: SEND BACK YOUR TAX CUT
I have had vets approach me in parking lots & pull up next to me at traffic lights & tell me how much they like this bumper sticker. They are always very courteous but I can see a sadness as they acknowledge the truth of what that message really is - that the CIC no longer asks for all to sacrifice during a war, only the military & their families.

I will make the calls & forward this to everyone on my list.
