Well, that's the last time I eat fast food. What to do now? (gross alert) |
|
I almost never eat fast food; this morning I treated myself to a Breakfast Jack. The egg was crunchy. I pulled it out and it looked like nothing I've ever seen; not even the most poorly prepared egg could look like this and...I've been in the military. I suspect the egg was somewhat less than fresh...something which might account for the greenish craters.
The offending portion is currently in the freezer. I cannot yet look at it long enough to take a photograph. In fact I have been having dry heaves for the past couple hours at the mere thought of eating. (gulp...trying to make it though this post.)
So what to do now? If I complain, they will compensate me with some coupons for free food. (Sorry our food made you puke; here have some more.) A refund? We are talking less than three bucks.
Any suggestions from you creative types?

13. Nah. If he gets seriously sick, that sample may be needed to establish: |
|
1.) What exactly kind of food poisoning it is...
2.) Legal proof for medical reimbursement.
Now, if he goes a few days without getting sick, then I might agree...

6. Email their customer complaint center and/or lawyer. |
|
Ask how much he wants to pay you for it to be returned to them, to compensate you for your 'experience'.
Mention your blog, but in an nonthreatening manner. Just say, 'well, if I don't get relief from you, I might seek advice from the online community on how to proceed to protect other consumers from your unfit products.'

8. Keep it in case those dry heaves turn into something worse |
|
like the kind of intestinal infection that sends you to the emergency room for drugs and fluids. Make sure you take the evidence with you in a ZipLoc bag so they can test to see what bugs it's growing.
If you come out unscathed, then either keep it in the freezer as a reminder of why sane people don't eat fast food or shit can it.
The only places I still eat at around here are mom & pop places where I can identify everything in the food. I still don't want to look at the kitchens...

9. I would would write a letter to the FDA |

and carbon copy the owner of the fast food franchise and also carbon copy local reporter in your daily newspaper.
The FDA will do nothing, but the franchise will get antsy about you telling the media and Feds.

12. green egg is overcooked egg |
|
Edited on Sun Aug-26-07 04:46 PM by pitohui
not seeing a photo i'm guessing the egg was just overcooked as opposed to dangerous -- but it would have had to have been boiled???
for less than $3 if it was convenient, admit i would go back and get either a refund or coupon, if i didn't want the coupon, if i'm honest with myself i know plenty of people who would use the coupons
i guess that makes me cheap! but i've asked for coupons/money back on $1 items -- and gotten them too
it's your choice what to do, i think if you've been having dry heaves a couple hours it's your instinct telling you that you need to take action on this one way or another

15. you could always just use the coupons for coffee or beverages |
|
or maybe the only decent thing on their menu: the chicken fajita pita
I agree, green is usually overcooked. I think those eggs are poached for those sandwiches.
Now my personal fast food favorite breakfast food is a Whataburger Bacon Egg Biscuit. The bacon is crispy, the egg is scrambled light and fluffy and the biscuit is a work of art.
But I haven't done that in a long time.

22. Jack in the Crack actually has pretty good coffee and they pour |
|
it straight into the thermos type pump jug when they brew it so it never gets that hot plate meltdown. Then when you order coffee, they hand you the cup and you just hit the pump thingie.
Oh yeah real half and half too, no coffee bleach.
their iced tea is pretty good too.

There are two places where I won't eat: Jack in the Box and Taco Bell.

If you must have fast food, at least avoid the chains; and if you must visit a chain, do not get what they call "breakfast".

Yeah, I thought about that. I didn't read any of the porn threads so I'm not real sure what all of that was about. I figured it was just the summer heat gettin' to some people.
I really didn't mean to start another one. Really, I didn't.
