Pentagon to implant microchips in soldiers' brains
Don't know if this has been already posted.
This looks important and extremely frightening.

"The Department of Defense is planning to implant microchips in soldiers' brains for monitoring their health information, and has already awarded a $1.6 million contract to the Center for Bioelectronics, Biosensors and Biochips (C3B) at Clemson University for the development of an implantable "biochip".
http://pressesc.com/news/80530072007/pentagon-implant-microchips-soldiers-brains

Here what the developer has to say:
"C3B researchers are working pertinaciously to develop an implantable biosensor for monitoring lactate and glucose levels. Funded by the Department of Defense, the goal of this platform project is to develop a temporary implantable biosensor with wireless transmission capabilities. Packaging a dual sensing element biochip into the biosensor poses significant engineering challenges. Experiments are being conducted to investigate the amperometric response of the biochip to glucose and lactate, the biocompatibility of hydrogels used for coating the biochip, and the biochip’s performance in laboratory animals.

Research breakthroughs in this platform project area will have prodigious contributions to mass triage scenarios such as battlefields and natural disaster sites by providing a means for medical personnel to make life saving decisions. The ability to monitor lactate and glucose levels with an implantable biosensor is also important for future applications in diabetes care, transplant organ health, and intensive care."

1. Sounds like a great idea
The enemy can just blast a beam of microwaves across the battlefield and watch the soldiers collapse, twitching, to the ground as the chips implanted in the brain burn up.

Fun fun fun!

10. OR, they could monitor the area for the wireless signals.
If they have sensitive enough equipment, they can tell exactly how many soldiers are there and where they are.

Smart move.

3. Ownership Society - Now we get some hints as to just what that means
Health? They say they want to mess around in their brains to monitor their HEALTH? Like they give a damn about anybody's health

No, not about health.

4. No mention of 'brains' in the university's description
Looks like PressEsc just made that bit up - a glucose and lactate sensor would be implanted somewhere convenient, which the brain isn't. But 'microchip in brain' sounds so much more dramatic than 'microchip in body', doesn't it?

6. There are some very portable instruments that use only a drop or two
of blood to read a half dozen or more important markers, besides glucose. This is making up medical excuses for doing this nasty thing.

No, this is simply the camel's nose under the RFID tent. (Can't use prisoners, as where do they go, really?)

13. We must electrically control the brain.
Some day armies and generals will be controlled by electrical stimulation of the brain.

"We need a program of psychosurgery and political control of our society. The purpose is physical control of the mind. Everyone who deviates from the given norm can be surgically mutilated.

"The individual may think that the most important reality is his own existence, but this is only his personal point of view. This lacks historical perspective.

"Man does not have the right to develop his own mind. This kind of liberal orientation has great appeal. We must electrically control the brain. Some day armies and generals will be controlled by electrical stimulation of the brain."

Dr. Jose Delgado (MKULTRA experimenter who demonstrated a radio-controlled bull on CNN in 1985)
Director of Neuropsychiatry, Yale University Medical School
Congressional Record No. 26, Vol. 118, February 24, 1974

Above quotes from Dr. Delagado found in Brainwashing America by Dr. Norman Livergood.

the DOD did something smart like this......

and no the microcip isn't going to be silicon that can burn up........I imagine they will use a crystal chip or a carbon nanotube chip........
