NBC Affiliates Stiff Keith Olbermann
Posted August 26, 2007 | 08:12 PM (EST)

It doesn't pay to cover the Iraq war honestly. Just ask Keith.

............................

"Countdown" was pre-empted for local TV drivel, "The Ed Bernstein Show" and (**cough**) "The Chris Matthews Show." By the way, Bernstein runs attorney ads on TV. Get it? Nothing like buy-time.

I guess being against the war is just too much for the affiliates to take. You know, since "Countdown" was to air before a football game. Like the majority of the American people can't handle the truth and true journalism. Like they aren't against the Iraq war and want our troops to come home. Could this be any more obvious? Olbermann delivers honest news. He goes after Republicans, but if Democrats serve up crap he takes after them, too. He's honest.

Oh, and by the way, there are plenty of other stations stiffing Keith Olbermann and "Countdown" and I've outlined some in updates (Updates On Other Stations NOT airing Countdown here:
http://www.taylormarsh.com/archives_view.php?id=26123)to this post. I'm hearing it from readers and many others. It sucks.

Anything to keep we the people from hearing honest news. No wonder the big three networks are failing. You can't trust them anymore.

This is how we got into Iraq, with a lot of help from the corporate hack pack. I guess this is how Big Media will keep us in the war, too.

32. Pittsburgh & Philadelphia because they can use
a Steelers - Eagles game to run an hour of their own sports/entertainment programming. I was expecting that to happen being the norm when a hometown station has the game in prime time.

2. Ignore 70% of your viewership
Sure ticket to profitability! Remind me again why knee-jerk Republican "businessmen" are so much better at running governments?

At least the Montgomery and Mobile NBC stations carried Keith. Don't know about some of the others.

4. It's pretty common in the Pacific Time Zone during prime sporting event to air the shows after the
sporting event. Prime time is not 4 PM on Sunday. It's 7pm to 11pm on Sundays. Most West Coast NBC affiliates are airing it in Prime Time after the Football game. In LA it's at 10 pm. Prime Time is exactly that, when most viewers are usually tuned in to Network Television.

31. That is true. In Phx the game is first, we are on Pacific time, so 9 is perfect, and the affliate
here is the most popular news. So I think they got more people seeing this before than after.

5. I believe ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX should be broken apart with anti-trust lawsuits.
We need another "Square Deal" president and another "New Deal" president.

13. That'd be just a small part of what should be done.
Ideally, I'd not permit any corporation to own a corporation ... no more than a dog should own a house. Property should not own property - and property with LIMITED LIABILITY for the harms committed against living human beings is a particularly onerous kind of 'property.' The obscenities of 'ownership' entitlements - including the ownership of human beings! - has been a cancer on the human race for millennia, imho. I'm not talking about personal possessions ... I'm talking about the kind of government-established and enforced entitlements that make the people involuntary servants to wealth, including such conglomerations as Enron (a hornet's nest of over 500 'corporations' in a variety of jurisdictions) and a protected 'market' for the sale and exchange of massive amounts (TRILLIONS) of 'property' without even generating the sales tax revenues of a local mini-mart.

At a minimum, I'd like prohibitions on corporate ownership of media corporations - if only to prohibit "hybrid" conglomeration - a pharmaceutical company owning a newspaper, for example, or just a "media empire." Indeed, that very nomination should be enough of a clue. Empire. Funny how conservatives can call liberals "unAmerican" and kneel at the altar of corporate EMPIRES.

8. Taylor Marsh needs to do better research
before he/she goes out on a tangent. KO is on the Las Vegas affiliate tonight at 10pm. Source is the KVBC web page where there is a link to TitanTV KVBC's schedule. As I said, this is typical programming for Western states. No conspiracy at the local level.

19. There was no way in HELL they were going to allow Keith
a full unbiased rating of his talent on network TV. No way they were going to let him EVER have a larger audience than Billo.
No way in Hell.
No way in Hell they were going to let Fixed Noise/Rush dittoheads hear the truth. It might wake some of them up.

He has been on almost everywhere in the east, south, and midwest. The far west has a different schedule, and he will be on after the NFL game. He was also on during the halftime break.

As noted on the Countdown blog. Taylor Marsh should have checked her local listings for after the game.

He's on everywhere in the country - in the west, after the game.

The constant drumbeat about some powerful media cabal controlling everything is getting tiresome.
