I heard someone say this on Hardball this morning. Is this something we need to be worried about?

On edit: They said that Dems were writing Florida off for this reason. I find this hard to believe.

1. I doubt anyone would pick Crist.
He seems way too sensible (for a Republican) to appeal to any of the wingnut factions.

2. Are you sure THAT'S what you heard them say?
I don't remember where I heard it, but it was on CNN...The Dems may not bother to run anyone against Crist in Fl. because he's such a popular Gov.

If you heard right about the VP slot, my answer would be YES.

4. Not 100% sure
I wasn't paying close attention at that time but I thought they were talking about Crist as the VP pick.

7. IMHO on Christ
My daughter in St Pete says he is gay. Almost enough to vote for him rethug or not.He seems to have too much sense to be a real Rethug. I guess time will tell!

3. We'll fight for Florida tooth and nail, and Charlie Crist isn't going to be
much of a factor in the outcome, IMO.

He's new on the scene, only a tad more reasonable than his predecessor, and we'll be out in force against Rudy or Mitt or Fred -- or whoever they toss at us.

5. The DNC is going for the "New Map out West."
There is little hope of capturing Florida. Too few changes in the voting systems yet, too much total and complete control by Republicans. It makes the Florida Dems feel unimportant, but it did not have to be this way.

They have a history of not standing up and being counted.

Well, ha ha...they sure changed that. Now they are standing up against their own party and aligning with the Republicans on the primary.

"Add it all up, and Democrats hope a new day is dawning. "We intend to contest Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Nevada as a unit next time in the presidential because we think we can win there," Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean told U.S. News. Dean's theory is that, with a combined total of 29 electoral votes, those four states would make it unnecessary for the Democrats to win Florida, with 27 electoral votes, which they have lost in the last two down-to-the-wire presidential elections. "Bill Clinton won every single one of those states at one time or another," Dean added

Big brother.
Dean said the key to the Democratic resurgence lies in what he sees as the rightward, interventionist shift of the national GOP. "The Republican Party has become the big-brother party, and this is a very libertarian part of the country. ... don't believe it's the government's place to tell them what to do with their personal lives, and this is a government that specializes in telling people what to do in their personal lives."

6. Crist ran on a platform that there was going to be real change with
insurance and property taxes... so far he's done neither and Florida is losing people to the Carolina's and TN, KY.. places where homes are affordable and don't kill you on insurance... On top of that, the state on average still pays shitty living wages. In my opinion he sucks. Business as usual.

8. Once the DNC gets through locking out our delegates,
then won't be much reason to bother with trying to win Florida.

But no price is to great to preserve the monopoly of minuscule, lily-white statelets in choosing our presidents.

As for Crist, the Republicans here mostly hate him because he's not batshit crazy. The widespread gay rumors would also become an issue in a national campaign. I don't think we have to worry about Crist ending up on the ticket.

10. Florida is the guilty party. If they had stayed at Feb. 5, all delegates would be there.
They moved up too far and then blamed the DNC.

I will never forgive them for that.

9. If he were running for President, maybe.
But as a VP he won't have much impact. He'll just make the other Repubs look that much nastier.
